We went out home for dinner. Uncle Berle & Aunt Myrtle came to Dad’s just as we were leaving for home.

Washed & ironed. I went to Juvenile Grange practice. Rosie Hardy played her accordion. Very nice. Merrill went to Lodge.

Mrs. Gertrude Rosbrook (46) shot herself early this morning. Town is is shocked. Rebekah drill practice.

I went to Lodge. Was on refreshment committee. Called at Rosbrook’s. We moved kitchen stove because creosote run. Blacked stove & pipes.

Appointment for Vernon with Dr. Kelsey. He had 9 teeth filled. $18.00. I went to Mrs. Rosbrook’s funeral. Church was full. Some standing. So many flowers.

Grand day. Merrill & I took 2 calves to sale at Gouverneur.

We went out home in PM. Stopped in city & got boys vitamin pills.

Cold & snowy. Mr. Wendell brought hinges for sewing machine. Vernon put them on. We planned to go to Don’s but didn’t because of the weather.

Esther & Jim Hardy have baby girl. 9 1/2 pounds. Colleen. Washed & ironed. Merrill went to Lodge. Sold 4-H heifer to Leslie Hall. Snowy in morning. Ken & Eleanor have baby girl. Roberta Lynn 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

They called from hospital to say Ken’s have baby girl. Ken called. Merrill & I went out to hospital to see Eleanor.

Got things ready for Grange. Juvenile Deputy attended our meeting. Put on degree. Good turn out. Mrs. Leo Lawler dropped dead at work.

Merrill, Aunt Maude, & I went to Mercy Hospital to see Eleanor & Roberta for the first time. Merrill got rubber boots. Vernon went over to school to show movies. Got Roberta blanket and duck.

Lodge practice. I went. Jim went to birthday party at John Hagler’s. Merrill went to show. Vernon to basketball game. Merrill & I took calf to sale. Shopped at Gouverneur. Vi Mowers has pneumonia.

Merrill’s birthday (43 years). I have charge of dining room for cafeteria supper at church. Made $40.00 or so. Vernon went to basketball game at Lafargeville. I was in to see Mrs. McKeever. Had birthday dinner at noon. Cake & chicken.

Raining & freezing on. Very slippery. Lazy day. Wrote Carl.

Washed & ironed. Merrill went to Lodge. Vernon went to basketball game at Mills. Philadelphia lost to Chaumont. Last game of the season. Baked cookies & cakes.

Eleanor’s birthday. (24 years) Got letter from Edith Barker. Merrill & I took calf to sale. Vernon put up round bird house he made of Spry can. Wrote Mother Tryon.

Lodge. I went. Went to Library for first time to order film for Home Bureau. Juanita’s birthday.

Appointment with Dr. Kelsey for Vernon. He got rest of teeth filled. Claude Simonds went to hospital.

Helen & I went to Home Bureau chairman’s council meeting at city.

Jim & I went to library. Jim’s first trip to get books. Grand day.

We went out home for dinner. Took Mom & Dad down to see Roberta Lynn for first time.

Washed & ironed. Cleaned 2 bedrooms upstairs. Got new 10 burner gas stove at church. Merrill went to Lodge.

W.S.C.S. meeting. I went. Rainy. Have terrible cold. Tom Coolidge died today.

Merrill & I went to Grange. Didn’t have Juvenile Grange. Only 5 kids came. Went to library. I took Leah to city to see Claude. Myrtle went too.

Appointment with dentist for myself. Got teeth fixed on one side. Home Bureau at Florence Beckard’s. Election of officers. Vi, chair. Dot Allan, vice Chair. Barbara Moshier, secretary/treasurer. Mrs. Brown came.

Sleepy today. Vernon got infrared brooder. Past Grands. Went to Mill tonight for district meeting.

Baked. Washed bedspread. Finished cleaning upstairs. Merrill & Vernon went to library in evening.

We all went to church. Made cookies in PM to send to Carl. Rainy.

Mom’s phone is changed to 2-1611. Washed & ironed. cleaned playroom. Merrill went to Lodge.

Wrote poem for Carrie when she presents Bible to Lodge tomorrow night. Lodge practice. Washed bedroom curtains. Traded horses with Perin K.

Easter vacation starts. Initiation at Lodge. 75 present. Carrie D. & Billie Pike Sheppard joined. Got home at 2:00 AM.

Dad’s birthday. (60 years) Sent him letter & card. We all went to city. Got new hat. Vernon got electric cord for brooder.

Cleaned our bedroom. Painted molding in den. Quite cold. Talked with several about menu for Mother & Daughter banquet.

Grand day. Cleaned back year. Vernon planted sweet peas. They cleaned yards around building. Merrill & boys got hair cuts. Vernon went to library.

Easter. Boys & I went to Easter breakfast. We all went to church. Church was packed. Raining real hard in evening. Called Mom & Dad. Dad had horse die last night.

Washed & ironed. We went out home in PM. Took Dad box of candy for birthday. Merrill went to Lodge & to Past Grand meeting at Theresa.

Vernon painted ceiling in den & bathroom. Started cleaning both rooms. Cheryl was over all day. Aunt Maude came over here in PM. Vernon & I went to Grange. Vernon joined.

Juvenile Grange. We all went. Made nylon corsages after meeting. Men (Kiechle’s) finished putting on shingles. Painted bathroom.

Merrill helped put siding on Grange Hall. I went to refin [?] lessons at Jean Parker’s in PM. Vernon, Jim, & I went over to Grange to help finish flowers.

Cleaned sun porch. Painted porch floor. Baked pie, cake, & cookies. Men built fence for first. Colored sun porch curtains.

Gave myself a Toni Wave. Windy. Put up curtains in sun porch. Men built fence. Got letter from Mom.

We didn’t go out home. Vernon came down with mumps. We went for ride in PM. Merrill, Jim, & I walked back to woods.

Vernon not feeling too good. I washed & ironed. Merrill started fitting ground for first. Painted bathroom floor.

I feel punk today. Merrill went to Cox’s for 100 baby chicks. $17.00. Very warm today. Wrote Mom.

Vernon & I both feeling better. I didn’t go to Lodge as I may have mumps too. Entertained the past grands. I washed kitchen ceiling. Got letter from Uncle Berle

Grand day. Finished cleaning kitchen. Vernon planted flower seeds. Carl Killenbeck started painting lodge ceiling white. Wrote Uncle Berle. House cleaning done except for living room floor.

Vern was awarded 50 chicks in 4-H. Men sowed 9 3/4 acres of grain. First sowed. I went over town in AM. Went over & helped Aunt Maude in PM. She has been in bed since Sunday with strep throat & queasy.

Nice day. W.S.C.S. food sale. Grange cafeteria supper. Grange made over $60.00. Uncle Berle came at 3:30 for weekend. Vern is sick again.

Vernon still quite sick. Temperature 103°. Uncle Berle went home about 5:00 PM. Mother, Dad, Melba, & Kessel here for supper. Nice day.
