Diary Entry for 1/1/2003

Cloudy day. Warm 35°. This is my 60th diary. I was 25 years old when I stated. Thanks to June I’m able to enjoy reading back over the large print and relive my life. It is most enjoyable, as I’ve had a good life. Thanks to my husband and family. I took down Christmas stuff except the tree. I played Pedro in evening. Three tables.

snow flurries. Jessie was here to clean. Good to have the apartment clean again. Kenney’s delivery man here in evening with my drugs. I’ve met my co payment so didn’t have to pay for them (Epic) $210. I get them free until May. I sent Ken birthday card.

A nice day. 30° and 21°. Some sun. I went to church with Jim Nash. Sherri didn’t go. They started having church in dining hall to save on fuel. A large crowd out for communion. We went to Big M after church. A lazy day. I read from my diaries. It brings back so many memories.

29° and 20°. Snow flurries off and on. Sue Boschock here. Brought me poinsettia plant I had in church in Philadelphia in Merrill’s memory. Ken’s 83rd birthday. Centennial Club with new officers. Virginia Pastor new president. I got thank you from Steve, Kathy and girls. I talked with Lyla in evening.

23° and -8°. Cold buy sunny all day. I went to exercise class. 11 out. Hope’s mother-in-law’s last day with us. (Betty Ann Moore) I get nice thank you letters from Sarah and Kristen. Dick Scee’s son, Ronald 53, died Saturday of pneumonia.

36° and 30°. Snowed off and on. The Insurance on snowmobiles back on today so the sleds are back on the trails tonight. I played Pedro in evening. Three tables. Ice storm was five years ago now.

Diary Entry for 1/9/2003

Cloudy all day. No snow. I went to exercise class. 11 there. Dawn brought us each a Clementine to peel in one whole piece peeling. Also she baked a ham and egg pie for us after class. Very good. I bought Dorothy Kellogg’s Aladdin magnifying machine. Gave $1100 for it. It was new less than a year ago. Jim here at supper time. He took Debby’s package to mail for me. (Clppings), smiling face magnets, and mom’s wedding ring). Jim has paid for my cable for a year. My kids are so good to me. Always doing something nice for me.

24° and 12°. Snow flurries. Cold. Coffee and donuts. I went. I met Jerry McCallops. Lidia and I tried to watch an opera video on new TV but Rose Mary couldn’t get the VCR to work. Ended up with a split screen. More fun. I talked with Juanita. Esther is leaving for Florida on Wednesday. Sherri called to say they wouldn’t be going to church tomorrow.

Very stormy by spells. Windy and cold. Lazy day. Read diaries. Fire at Ramada Inn. Fire in one room but smoke all over the rooms. Debbie called at suppertime. She got the package Jim sent her for me. I sent her mom’s wedding ring. I talked with Jim in the evening.

Very cold. -17° this morning at 7 AM. Cold all day but mostly sunny. I went to exercise class. Everyone there again today. I talked with Susie. Vi gets home this weekend. Sue B called on prayer chain for John Dingman. Florence was here. Brought me piece of chocolate pie. Good.

19° and -23°. Jessie here to clean. We went to store. I got $67 of groceries. Juanita called in evening. Esther didn’t go to Florida. Ken had to have X-rays on his lungs. Sue B called for prayer chain for Ray Dougal. He’s in hospital with leg infection after a heart operation.

21° and 15°. Snowy some in morning. Sunny in PM. Kathy called to say they were coming today. Sherri and I didn’t go to church. Jim didn’t go either. Steve’s got here about 2:45 PM. Kathy brought casserole for supper. A nice day together. Steve looked through my box of pictures. They brought me a Gertrude Hawk milk chocolate bear. Vern called in evening.

2° and -30°. It was -25° when I got up. Very cold all day. Wind chill. I went to exercise class. All there except Helen B. We each gave $3 for a plant for Valentines’ day for Dawn. Sherri called with two requests for the prayer chain.

-1° and -24°. Sunny but below zero. I washed some clothes by hand. The Eggleston Apartment on Ore Bed Road, Antwerp burned today. Ruth is a resident of Whispering Pines since Thanksgiving time. She is blind. I talked with Vi twice. I called Mary Hall about fire. I played Pedro in evening.

0° and -21°. Another cold day. Some snow. I went to exercise class. All there. We gave Dawn a mixed basket of plants. She had made us delicious sugar cookies. Jolie called in evening. I called Lyla.

Warmer but a cold wind. 22° and 12°. Snowy. I went for coffee and donuts in morning. Juanita called in PM. Ken has decided to go to Florida with Esther February 20th. Jolie called on way to grocery store.

23° and 6°. Snowing most of the day. Snowed about a foot in all. We didn’t go to church. The “Out to Eat Brunch” postponed until later at Ponderosa. I talked with Sherri twice. I called Jim. He and Joel were on the way to Syracuse. I wrote June and Vern in PM. Super Bowl in evening. 48 – 21 Tampa Bay over Oakland Raiders.

19° and -22°. Warmer today. No sun. I went to exercise class. 10 of us there. Linda Beyette called. She has her shoulder operated on February 11th. Next VIP meeting here March 4th. President Bush’s State of the Union address at 9 PM.

26° and 11°. Mostly cloudy day. They are piling snow out back on back lawn with a backhoe today. Lots of snow. Lyle was here to see my apartment. He put I an application at Centennial. I played Pedro in evening. Had three tables.

Much warmer. 37° and -1°. Some sun off and on. Jessie here to clean. We didn’t go to store. A “drug bust” at one of Bob and Marilyn’s apartment house apartments on Ore Bed Road. Also a connecting raid out here on Washington Street at 1009. Centennial is 1010 Washington Street. Nine people arrested.
