Diary Entry for 6/1/1985

No Philadelphia Fireman’s Field Days this year. Scout encampment at Fort Drum this weekend. We went for groceries. Merrill finished lawns. He cleaned church. Got his hair cut, $4.50 now. Cold and cloudy.

Administrative Council postponed till the 10th. Sunday School and Church, 63 there. Candy Delles baptized after church. Rev. Salisbury had a great service and sermon. I had a chipmunk get on my lap on side porch. Had a cookout supper. First this year. Good.

Merrill helped at Horton’s trucking cattle all day. I washed clothes and ironed my yellow suit and other clothes. Kathy Paro went to Mercy hospital today. Jeff gave us gallon of milk.

Clinic: Merrill 120/74 and mine 190/100 blood count 122. Raining. PPR Meeting at CEC. New pastor is Colin Kerr Carpenter. His wife Kathy is new pastor at Antwerp. He’s from California and she is from Rochester.

UMW Rummage Sale today and tomorrow. Merrill worked all day at Horton’s. He worked in garden in evening. Vern called in evening. Washed clothes. Audrey called. Also Coffy slate.

Karen Hanson and Robert Dusek (?) wedding in Rochester. We went with Vern’s. A just lovely wedding and nice reception. About 75 there. We spent night at Vern’s. Gail’s sister Michelle got married today also.

Sunday School and church service for children’s day, 93 out. Nice service. We went to church in minetto. Nice Service. Got home about 5 PM. A nice week end. Raining most of way home.

Administrative Council at church, 15 out. They washed church basement walls. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Merrill mowed lawns. Got free 5 gallons of gas with tickets. Had radishes from garden for first this year.

Buick to city for gas line. Also had tune up, $170.06. We ate lunch at K-Mart store. I got new dress at Sears. Merrill helped at church cellar way in evening. He and Wayne worked at it.

Sunny today and warmer. Carl Scee called to say Dorothy Hogaboom has had leg off almost to hip in Mercy Hospital. Merrill went to dump. Patty called and invited us down for dinner tomorrow.

Father’s Day. Graduates honored at church, 71 there. There were 8 graduates. We went to Jim’s for dinner. Got home about 5 PM. A good day together. We stopped to see Carl Scee at Whispering Pines Adult Home. He is good. I have a cold.

We cleaned back room. Merrill put tin over holes to keep out chipmunks. Vera here. Brought us tickets for Catherine’s Ordination. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Merrill got Father’s Day cards from Jim’s. Pirates 1st game. Won 6-5.

Had a phone call from Leslie and Grace. She’s at Wolcott. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. Darcy was here with a dozen raised donuts I ordered, $3.00. I made small cup cakes for Sunday. Took me about all day. About 100 in all.

Dan’s graduation from High School. Merrill mowed most of lawns. He went to Horton’s but came home because he was dizzy. Elaine and girls here. I got check back from Lane Bryant. We stopped at Ken’s on way to Oswego. Dan among 8 honor students. All very nice.

A lovely picnic party at Vern’s for Dan. 23 there. Roy and Juanita came with Ken and Eleanor. Myers and Gehm’s. Vern’s, Patty and kids, Merrill and I. Also Ed. We stopped at Jim’s on way home. Got home about 8 PM. Tired.

Merrill worked all day at Horton’s. Windy, cool, but sunny. I washed white clothes. I called for food for Hall funeral. Is in paper tonight that Edmund Kellar 70. Funeral on Wednesday in Sodus.

Shower for Kim Hall. I didn’t get to it. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. Corrine Simonds called. She has a purchase offer on CEC for $28,000. Merrill called Trustees to meet tomorrow night. Sent June card, letter, and $5.00.

June’s 47th birthday. Merrill worked at Horton’s in AM. We went to Rodman Cemetery for burial of Edmund Kellar. Rebekah’s went out to eat at Clearview in Gouverneur in evening. Zelda drove. Vi, Leah, Zelda, Diane, Edna and I all went. Good meal.

We picked 27 pounds of strawberries at Bedors. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Vern, June, and Don and Bea Gehm here for supper. Vern had eye appointment. Dan drove his VW bug to work for first time today.
