Diary Entry for 4/4/1977

Lawrence called at 6:30 to say Aunt Keitha, 81, died about 4 AM. Dilly called later in morning. I called Art Haggerty. Merrill, Boots and I went to Agway for pipe fixture. Mom called in PM. She’s not too good.

Jim called. He went to funeral home in Dexter. UMW at Martha Brown’s. I didn’t go. Vern’s called in evening. Are coming Friday. Washed clothes. Washed my hair. Rainy. Merrill and Boots went to Theresa. Merrill got bedroom slippers at Pearls, $5.35.

Aunt Keitha’s funeral at Dexter. We went. A very large funeral. We didn’t go to Calcium. Merrill went to hospital after funeral, room 241. Got Easter cards from Vern’s. Aunt Maude got home from hospital.

Very stormy. Snowed hard during night. Vern’s got here about 1 PM. Their gas tank leaked so they rented a car. They stopped at hospital. We all went out in evening. Merrill real good. Been up 3 times. Ken and Brenda there also. Called Mom. She’s feeling better.

Vern and June and I went to hospital in PM. They stopped on way home also to leave Merrill water. Jim’s here most of day also. Jim and boys got wood. Patty cleaned house. Looks so great.

Easter Sunday. A beautiful day. I didn’t go to church. Spent day at hospital with Merrill, 11 AM to 4 PM. We talked with Gladys and Lamon. Watched “The Ten Commandments” on TV in evening, 4 1/2 hours long.

Mom’s appointment with Dr. Myerdericks. Eleanor called. She has another abscess. Jim’s here for supper. They did chores. I got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s. Merrill rode up to Philadelphia. 73° again today.

Beautiful day. I cleaned on lawns. Merrill burned old hay. Pat Brancatella had his barn painted. First time ever. Jim and Kenny Rudes here for lunch. They gave lesson on child abuse at IRC at Philadelphia.

New York State 200 years old today. I finished cleaning lawns. Merrill helped a little this PM on them. Merrill went to Gouverneur with Lynn to get brushes on tractor generator, $12.50. Cloudy.

Lula’s 87th birthday. IOOF had meeting with John Goslin and DDP at city. He came for charter but didn’t get it. I baked cake and cookies. Merrill cleaned floors. Got letter from Lettie Wood.

Lynn got hay. Merrill put in dump station for Halls. We all went for groceries in morning. Jolie and I went over to Lorraine B. Only she, Tony and Angie there. Rest in New Jersey. Got letter from Uncle Berl and Beulah Hall.
