Diary Entry for 10/3/1994

Hard frost last night. We washed clothes. Merrill piled wood. Wrote Bea a note and sent her birthday card. Florence and Earl Yerdon here in AM. Had a driver, a neighbor woman. Nice to see them. Earl not too good.

Bill Matteson here to repair refrigerator. Had to order $100 part. Frost free. Merrill washed windows and put on storm windows. I called Elgin in PM. Can call free during October through MCI. Debby was here at noon. She has painting job at Carthage. dr. Trowbridge’s offices.

Nice day. Merrill raked leaves. Merrill got hair cut. We went to Theresa Medical Center for flu shots. Medicare paid for them. Drove on new bridge and streets at Theresa. Is so wide and nice. Like a city.

UMW at church, 7 PM. I went. Mrs. Christine Battaglia of Potsdam sang. Very nice. We finished cleaning dining room. Got curtains up. Merrill took car to Cole Muffler for new muffler. Free one. Other parts $38.63. Martha Mowers has cataract operation.

Merrill put rest of wood down cellar. He raked leaves. I made cake and pudding. First time I’ve baked in months. Felt good. Bill Matteson put new part on refrigerator, Cost $93.37. New Lisbon bank is open in Philadelphia Bank.

Dr. Stark, 2:15 PM. Blood pressure 140/80. Have gained 2 pounds. Took blood for anemia count. Gave me slip for wheelchair. Also, he is getting me handicapped parking. Wants me to see a radiologist. Shopped in Pharmhouse in wheel chair. I called Elgin in Canada. Redwood bank opened in Plaza.

Diary Entry for 10/28/1994

Roast beef dinner, 5 PM. Merrill went over for take outs. Very good. They made $745.00. Vivian was over. Brought us some chocolate chip cookies. Jim came out on his cycle. Only been riding it a couple times. His knee doing okay. Still doing therapy. Wallace Recore has been to court. Will get 5 months in jail and 5 years probation.

Back on old time. We didn’t go to church. Merrill not feeling good. Had a bad night. Couldn’t sleep. We went to emergency room by ambulance. Came home. He has pneumonia. Jim and Cliff brought us home.
