Diary Entry for 5/2/2004

Still warm but windy. Cooler in evening. Started raining about 4 PM. I went to church with Jim N. Vern and June got here about 1 PM. We went to Barkeater’s for dinner. I had lasagna. Good. Jolie called in evening. She got home from Darcia’s okay. Vern has to have surgery for prostate cancer in July. Test just discovered it. It is in deeds in Times that Sue Lucida has sold her camp in Lorraine for $65,000. Also Charles and Dawn Heckle have bought Mrs. Hagan’s house from Helen and Car. $41,500.

46° and 38°. Much cooler. Sunny. Vi here for paper. I talked with Jim to tell him about Vernon. He was at home. Centennial meeting at 7:30. Not as many out this month. Jolie called to say I could call her on an 888 number for free.

Sunny most of the day. I saw Cheryl in lobby. She said Marshall Thayer has lung cancer and only six months to live. He’s in hospital in a lot of pain. I talked with Lyla later. She is very upset with Vicky being so far away. VIP meeting at 2 PM. Mike White guest entertainer. Good to hear him again. A good turnout to hear him plus 7 members and 2 guests. Annette took Linda’s place. Ted Steward guest. Jim N came for his lunch that was left here until he goes home. Sherri a little better in hospital.

Raining in PM. I went to meeting on survey for Henry Keep Board. A two day meeting. Several came from Henry Keep apartments. I called Jim. He has a cold. I played Pedro in evening. Had three tables. I got packages from Lane Bryant and Dr. Leonard’s. Lyla B brought them to me. I called Juanita in evening

A sunny day. Cool wind. I went to exercise class. A small turn out. I went up to Ida Banfords to get her VIP dues. She’s a nice little lady. They say she is 95 years old but I can’t believe it. I mailed back school vote ballot. I also sent notice to HSBC to keep by burial fund account open.

A sunny day all day. 58° and 31°. Sherri Nash got home from hospital. She’s now under the care of Hospice. Jim called. Vi here for paper. Jim here to bring me some cash. He brought his computer and showed me pictures of Jolie’s new home. Also Joel’s place. Jim is going to Virginia Beach Monday and Maybe to Jolie’s.

Partly cloudy. I went for coffee and donuts. I took donuts down to Jim and Sherri. She got home from hospital yesterday. She’s very weak. I got two ham diners from church supper. Vi came down and we ate together here.

62° and 44°. Sunny. I didn’t get to church. Jill called in morning and said she and Jim want to take Vi and I out to dinner. They took us to Bob Evans. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table but had delicious food and a nice time together. Jill went to Patty’s in PM. Jill brought me flowers from her and Joel. Joanne sent a hanging plant by Jim. Jim gave me his usual big card with beautiful words. They left about 3 PM. Jolie called in evening. Also Juanita. Vern called at suppertime. He worked at pancake breakfast for his Rotary club.

A great day. I went to exercise class. Vi and I walked over to hospital lab. I had blood work. Vi treated me to lunch at hospital cafeteria. Dr. Willis office called. I need to have another blood test next week. Angie here. Brought me rhubarb. I got out my fans today. Feels good. Jolie called in evening. Jim is at her place. Just arrived in early evening

A summer day. Very humid. I played Pedro in evening. Only had two tables. Vi brought her grandmother’s book Sue made for her for me to look at. It’s so nice. I enjoyed it so much. Lots of memories. Florence gave me two ears of sweet corn. Office of the Aging called about the meals we receive. They are pretty good.

Hot and human. I went to exercise class. Debby called for Dr. LaPoint. I have to give myself Procrit shots twice this week and twice next week and then once a week. Vi here twice. We sat outside in evening.

85° and 68°. Hot but not as humid. Thunderstorm in PM. Jessie here to clean. We went to Big M store. Vi’s her. Also Florence and Angie. Jolie called in evening. Jim has gone on to Myrtle Beach but may not stay long. Zack was at a race in Virginia tonight. He has a good chance to get a job with the Army NASCAR group.

A nice day. I went to church with Girt S. art and Madeline Miles there. I went to church out here in PM. Vern called in evening. Vi here for paper. 450 soldiers got home to Fort Drum from overseas today. May go to Iraq later.

Sunny. A great day. Vi here. Also Angie. I gave myself Procrit shot in AM. Stompers here tonight but I couldn’t go. Sherri Nash memorial at 7 PM at First United Church. I went with girt S. a very nice service. Church was almost full. They had cookies and punch after service. She donated her body to science. Jolie called in evening. Jim is back at Joanne’s. Will be home tomorrow.

70° and 45°. A beautiful day. Nice breeze. Juanita called in morning. She said Ken and Esther planned to go out to Calcium to cemetery and wanted me to go with them. We had lunch at Burger King before going to cemetery. I played Pedro in evening. Only two tables.

Partly cloudy. Rained in PM. I went to exercise class. I gave myself Procrit shot. Marian Carvell gave me rhubarb from Kathy’s. The sewer on this end of the building plugged this PM.

A nice day. Windy. Vi here for Times. Florence gave me some watermelon for supper. I cooked rhubarb. 667 graduated from Jefferson Community College tonight. 15,000 so far have graduated from JCC to day.

61° and 50°. Cloudy. Some showers. I went for coffee and donuts. I made a cheesecake. First one in years. Gave some to Vi, Angie, Florence and Jim N. Vi was here. Debby called in evening. We talked for a long time.

Rained off and on. Thunder in evening. I went to church with Gertrude. We were greeters. Dr. Reimer in pulpit. Dora at conference. Vi here in PM. Vern called in evening. They are coming Sunday to go to cemetery. Vern’s computer wore out. He’s getting a new one. Jolie called. She was at the store getting boxes. They get the keys to their new house Thursday.

Raining off and on. Thunderstorm and power off in place. Vi here for paper. Jim called in PM. He said Joel and Camille had put a purchase offer on a house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jolie called. Her cat allergy back.

Cooler. Partly cloudy. 59° and 51’. I went to exercise class. Good turnout. Angie here in PM. She said our beautiful flowering crab tree is covered with armyworms. They are bad this year. Linda Beyette called. She has to have MRI.

Sunny all day. Cool wind. I went to exercise class. I gave myself Procrit. Vi and I went over to hospital so I could have blood work done. Jolie, Zack, and kids start moving into their new home. They get the keys today. I called Jim. He and Kenny stopped at hospital to see Posterina family. Mrs. Posterina is very sick.

A cloudy day. Jessie didn’t come today or she didn’t call. Vi, Florence and Jim N were here. Vern called to say he has a very sore shoulder and arm. They won’t be coming Sunday. I called Jim in PM. Sue called for Philadelphia UN Church prayer chin for Margaret Kiehles granddaughter.

Colder sunny, I cleaned the apartment. I called Avon lady Mary Beaumont to place in order for hand cream and lip pencil. Lyla called in evening. She, Marion and Cheryl got home from Vicky’s at 4 PM. Marshall not good. Hospice is taking care of them now.

63° and 39°. Cool but a great summer day. Frost last night in places. I went to church with Jim N. a nice service. Jim called at noon. He was at Joanne’s. I called Vern and June. Vern no better. He will have X-rays Tuesday.

73° and 42°. A nice day. Rain in evening. I was home all day. Florence gave me delicious piece of strawberry-rhubarb pie for supper. She also gave me two nice tee shirts. I read some of Loren Tryon’s letters written when he was in the war in France 50 years ago. He was 20 years old. He was killed on August 28, 1944. He was such a nice young man. He wanted to be like his oldest brother, Merrill.
