Vernon’s first basketball game as time keeper. Henry Pollock died today. age 44. Ida Pollock, Mrs. Crook & Lena Klock, had accident on way to hospital. Merrill & Jim went to show. I went to Stanley Party at Mary B.

We all went to city shopping. Terrible crowds. Got cloth for Mom’s dress. Boys did Xmas shopping.

Grand day. Just like spring. Lazy day. We didn’t go to church. Mom called. Ken’s want us to come out there for Xmas. Boys wrapped Xmas gifts.

Washed & ironed. I went to Henry Pollock’s funeral. Merrill went to Lodge in evening.

George Henderson butchered bull beef. Very warm. I went to W.S.C.S. Xmas party at church. I went to Home Bureau lesson on huck toweling at Lois Wards. Vernon went to basketball game at Theresa.

Still very warm. Jim didn’t go to school. Had stiff neck. I went to Grange. I started Mom’s dress.

Sent for patterns for huck toweling. Worked on Mom’s dress. Merrill took sunshine basket to Alex Duff in evening. George Waters went with him.

Pearl Harbor Day (10th anniversary) Thunder storm in morning. Very warm. We cut up & wrapped beef.

Finished beef. Had hamburg ground at Ashley’s. Baked cake. Merrill got hair cut. Sent Roy birthday card. Lois & Earle White have baby girl. Nancy Marie.

Raining. We went out home for dinner. Got Xmas tree. We are having Xmas at Dad & Mom’s.

Merrill & I went to city Xmas shopping. Merrill went to Lodge. They had party for Carl Hall at Lodge. He is home on furlough. He goes to state of Washington on Wednesday.

Our 16th anniversary. Merrill & I went to city in PM after part for milking machine.

Xmas party at Lodge. I went.

Vernon has to get gifts for Mr. Riley, Mr. Hayden, & Miss Voch for freshmen & sophomores. Helen & Jim were here. Jane talked to me on phone. Wrapped gifts.

Worked on Mom’s dress. All done but hem. Vernon went to basketball game at Cape Vincent. Philadelphia lost their first game.

Snowing & blowing. Plow was over. Vernon has terrible cold.

We all went to church. Very cold. Washed clothes in evening. Washing machine broke.

Very stormy. No school. Watertown in state of emergency because of storm.

No school because of storm. Everything plugged with snow.

Grange Xmas party. We all went. Very cold. Vern broke his glasses. We went to Gouverneur shopping. Saw Don & Juanita. No school. Uncle Berle sent us gift of Reader’s Digest.

Called Chellis’ for Vern’s glasses. Very stormy. Roads plugged again. School Xmas vacation.

We went to city after Vernon’s glasses that he broke. Lots of snow & very wet around city.

Snowing & blowing all day. Everything plugged. Bad fire at Antwerp in evening. 4 blocks burned. Baked bread & cakes. Our cows have dysentery.

We all went to church. Had covered dish dinner, program, & tree after church. 69-75 there. Nice time. Bill & Vi & Martha were here few minutes.

Made cake & candy. We had our tree in evening. All got nice gifts. Vernon, sander & vice. Jim, boots & guns. Merrill, watch. Me, nylon slip.

We went out home for Xmas. Just our own family. Don’s, Ken’s, Dad’s & us. Very stormy coming home.

Lazy day today. Real cold. I went to Lodge.

Quite cold today. I went to Home Bureau Xmas party at Mary Beebe’s. Had nice time. Only 7 there. Washed kitchen curtains.

Our cat Ginger died today. 8 years [old]. I have sore throat today. Merrill took Jim to Dr. Draper to see about bald spot on Jim’s head. Cleaned & waxed kitchen floor.

Took Jim to Dr. Saunder at city about spot on his head. Merrill & Vernon wired hen house. Bill, Vi, & Martha were over & played canasta until 1:30 AM.

Warm & raining. Very icy. We didn’t go to church. Everyone sleepy.

Awfully windy in evening. Washed clothes. Merrill made sleigh rack. We all went over to Helen & Carl’s to see New Year in. Had a grand time.

New Years. Snow almost gone again. No special celebration today. Ate dinner in new dining room (1st living room) for first time.

Boys went back to school after vacation. Snow about all gone. Just like spring. Merrill & I went to Grange. I was on suppercommittee with Lucy N, & Minnie P. Mrs. Hagan’s birthday. Marie called.

Snowing & colder. Boys had Xmas party at school. Was supposed to have been December 19th. I went to Grange card party at Aunt Maude’s. Got new Spiegel catalog.

Sent Ken birthday card. Finished ironing finally. Got letter from Mom.

Merrill, Jim, Vernon, & I went to city. Took Jim to Doctor Saunders for second time. Merrill went up to see Aunt Edna & Uncle Ed. He hasn’t worked since October. Aunt Edna fell & hurt her leg.

Ken’s birthday. (32 years) Colder but sunny. Merrill put up signs on farm for Army. Soldiers started arriving at Pine Camp for“Snow Drop”.

Plenty of army planes around today. I went to W.S.C.S. at Marguerite B. 28 present. Vernon went to basketball game withRedwood.

Grange meeting at city. Leah & Myrtle went with me. I went to Lodge in evening. Snowy & cloudy.

Rebekah Chamber of Commerce supper. I had charge of dining room. Snowing. Got home about 10:00.

Merrill got truck license. I went to city on bus. Had all day church council meeting. Merrill came out in PM. Boys went to game.

Feel lazy today. Dark, cloudy day. Got letter from Mom.

Nice warm day. Made myself gray wool skirt.

IOOF installation (open). Merrill & I went. Merrill is L.S.N.G. Had nice supper. Worked on blouse. Washed.

Grange card party at Margaret W. I went. Won high prize.

Uncle Len, Betty, & Art, were here for dinner. I went to Home Bureau mending lesson at Flora Lawler’s. Rained hard in evening. Thunder storm.

Washed & ironed. Baked cakes & cookies for freezer. Merrill went to Lodge.

Rebekah card party. We got Chevrolet 1950 car. Merrill, Jim, & I, went to Gouverneur. Vernon was sick and didn’t go to school.
