Sowed first oats. 9 acres. Grand day. Got invitation to reception for Ethel & Elmer May 27. I went to Stanley Party with Doris Webb.

Turned cows out for first time, day & night. Very warm. I went to Grange. Bread truck started coming in here.

Put young stock out to pasture. Rained this morning. I baked 8 pies, layer cake, & filled cookies.

Rained in forenoon. Waxed kitchen floor. Vi got home from New York. Rebekah Assembly.

Planted flowers & sweet corn. Worked out doors all day. Mowed lawns. Carl’s 23rd birthday.

No church. Conference. Planted garden today. Mrs. Hagan, Carl & Helen, & Jane were here. We went fishing on bridge inevening. Got 10 bullheads.

Shower for Gwen Pledger. I went. 14 there at Marg Jones. Washed & ironed. Merrill didn’t go to Lodge.

Finished ironing. Nice day. Planted grain in PM. 26 acres in.

Raining. I went to Achievement Home Bureau meeting at Bethany Church. Went to Lodge in evening. Had dining room for Past Grange.

Vi & I went to city. Got gift for Ethel & Elmer. Saw Edith, Dorothy, & Evelyn.

Fireman’s parade. Boys & I went to parade.

Baked cakes & cookies. Merrill finished planting oats. 36 1/4 acres. Was over town two times.

Ethel & Elmer Schultz’s wedding. Merrill & I went to reception. Very nice. Rained hard in PM.

Betty Haggerty’s birthday. (47 years) Merrill & I were up to Uncle Len’s for dinner. Took calf to sale. Merrill went to Lodge. We all went to Grange meeting.

Kiechle’s are helping Merrill draw out manure pile. Helped yesterday. 5 loads. Raining. Paul K. was here for dinner. Wayne Carpenter for supper.

We all went to Decoration Day doings. Vernon had a part. Wayne C. was here for dinner. Uncle Berle was here for supper.

Did a big washing & some of ironing. We finished springs work. 41 acres. I rode drill in PM for barley. 5 acres.

Vernon started bird bath. We painted windows & screens. Rained in evening.

Raining this morning. Clearing in PM. The men set up cement bird bath. Very nice. Vernon went to Dexter with band in evening. Baked & cleaned. Vern put 103 chicks in hen house.

Mom, Dad, Uncle Berle, Ken & Eleanor, were here for dinner. We went back to the woods.

Cloudy in forenoon. I washed in afternoon. Did ironing in evening. Cut out dress. Wrote poem.

I went to Lodge at the Mills with Beulah H. I wrote poem for Vi. She installed Evans Mills Lodge & deputy staff.

Geneva & Beulah Hall was over. Fixed skirt for Beulah. Went to Grange in evening.

Sleepy today. Baked cakes & pies.

Merrill & I went to city. Got boys new beds. $59.00 each. Got my self white shoes. I was on the “Meet Harriet” Show. Got hot pad mitt.

Merrill & Vernon got out logs for barn. Baked cake & cookies. Vernon painted windows. Got letter from Pauline.

Martha Mower’s birthday. (7 years) Raining. Aunt Edna, Uncle Ed, & Aunt Cora were here for dinner & supper.

Raining. Washed. Merrill & I went out to Dad’s to Adams. Merrill bought rake. Merrill went to Lodge.

Dairyland Festival parade. Finished my dress. We didn’t go to parade. Rainy.

Made white pique bag. Went to Lodge. Finished ironing.

Raining again. Got new rake $285.00. Doris Webb was here.

Merrill & Vernon went to show. Home Bureau meeting here. Had lesson on cake decorating & party sandwiches. Boys got new Hollywood beds.

Feel lazy today. Made cake & decorated it. Very pretty.

Mom’s birthday. (59 years) Father’s Day. We went out home for dinner. Ken’s & Don’s were there. Also Uncle Berle. Vernon stayed out. Stopped at Mother Tryon’s.

Washed. Had terrible head ache in PM & evening. Shorty Hill started work on barn.

Did some of ironing. I went to city in PM. Got crate of strawberries. $5.99. Froze them in evening. Ironed.

Grange. Jim & I went. Quite hot.

Jim & I went out home after Vernon. Took Mother Tryon to Rodman cemetery. She went up home with me. Melba came home with us.

Raining again. Went to Antwerp after cement. Was over town in PM. School got out today. Jim’s room went on picnic to the park.

Merrill, Melba, & I went to city & Carthage. Got Vernon new pants. $5.90. Rained so men couldn’t work on barn. Vernon went to band banquet. We all went over town to band concert.

We all went to church. Went up to city park for picnic dinner. Was over to P. Kiechle’s in evening.

Jim went to party at John’s. Melba went home on 10:10 bus. Washed. Vernon, Jim, & I went to graduation exercises. Vernon got $5.00. 94.6 average.

Nice today. Sent for Matron’s sash. Jim & I went over town in PM. Mrs. Hagan & Earl White were here. Ivan hurt in accident. [Ivan Carr. Clifford Carr’s son] Got letter from CPL Carl Tryon.

Lodge. Last meeting until September. I went. Ivan Carr, 15, was hurt in motor cycle accident last night. They finished work on barn.

Started haying today. Merrill mowed pieces by garden. Baked pies, cakes, cookies, & doughnuts. Did kitchen floor. Worked in back yard & garden.

Rained last night & this morning. We went out home after pigs but no one was home. Froze & made jam. 10 quarts strawberries.

Cloudy & cool. Merrill started hay rack. Called Alice. Ivan coming OK. Baked cake. Also cleaned.

Had a furnace fire. Pauline’s didn’t come. Drove up to Cocaign’s in PM to see boys about Grange. Sunday School picnic at Grasse Point.

We all went out to Ken & Eleanor’s for dinner. Took him mowing machine. Got 2 pigs. 2 @ $15.00. Were at Dad’s
