Edith Barker called and said Mary Stinson was dead & her funeral was this afternoon Merrill & I went to the funeral. Had nice visit with Orens & Edith. I helped at Grange supper when I got home.

Lazy day. Wrote some letters. Mrs. Hagan, Art Hagan, & children were here in evening. Also Helen & children.

They put in new milk cooler. Sent for Venetian blinds & curtains. Washed & ironed. Merrill went to Lodge.

I went to W.S.C.S. at parsonage. Nice day. Home Bureau had Bingo party for Camp Wabassa.

Rainy. Snowing & blowing in evening. We all went to Grange. Merrill was appointed to finish year as Overseer. Alice Flaherty resigned.

Awfully cold. Took first home nursing lesson. Helen & Beulah H. went with me. I went over to Beulah’s in PM.

World Day of Prayer at church. Was from 25° to 35° below zero last night. Merrill & I went to city. Got kitchen linoleum & 6 kitchen chairs.

Still awful cold. Cleaned & baked. Kitchen pipes burned out. Let fire out for night.

Awful cold around here this morning. Cleaned kitchen pipes. Plow has been in 3 times but road has been full. Blowing hard.

Washed & ironed. Raining and slippery. Merrill went to Lodge.

Kamargo’s delivered 6 kitchen chairs & linoleum for kitchen. Raining. Roads very slippery. School let out early because of ice. Washed kitchen curtains.

Put up kitchen curtains. Washed kitchen woodwork. I went to Rebekah’s in evening. Jim had Valentine party at school.

I set tables at church for Quarterly Conference. I went to 2nd home nursing class (Red Cross) in evening with Helen.

Grand day. 4°. Got letter from Mother Tryon saying Kessel was in hospital. Merrill put down kitchen linoleum.

Party at Leah & Claude’s for Doris & Freddie. We all went. Merrill & I went out to hospital to see Kessel. He is feeling better.

Foggy all day. We went out home for dinner. Stopped at Merrill’s folks. Elmer hasn’t gone back in army yet.

Washed clothes. Merrill went to woods. Merrill went to Lodge. Raining in evening. Vernon brought home mint dish he made at school.

Raining. Merrill & I went up to hospital to see Kessel. Also visited with Archie Holmes. He isn’t very good. Got Venetian blinds for living room.

Boys got out at 2:30 for weekend. We all went to Grange in evening. I fixed baskets for Grace H. & Margaret W. from Lodge.

Aunt Maude, Merrill, & I went to city. Took calf to sale. Kessel went home from hospital. Merrill took him home. I went to 3rd home nursing lesson in evening.

Nice day but cold wind. I went to Home Bureau program planning meeting at Antwerp with Flora & Marg. Jim has ear ache. Acted on parsonage committee.

Vernon taken sick with flu today. Jimmy is feeling better. Baked cakes & cookies. Made cake for church supper.

Grand spring day. Vernon quite sick today. Temperature 104°. We didn’t go to church. Wrote letter to Mom.

Washed & ironed. Merrill went to Lodge. Put up Venetian blinds in living rooms. Boys didn’t go to school.

Jim went back to school but Vernon is still in bed. Temperature is down. I’m getting flu now. Got letter from Mom & Dad. They have flu.

Started cleaning my bedroom. Don’t feel too good. Didn’t go to Lodge in evening. Vernon still sick.

Painted woodwork in bedroom. Merrill painted ceiling. I went to 4th home nursing lesson. Vernon got up some today. Got letter from Carl.

Vernon feeling better. I was sick in bed in PM. Started papering bedroom. But was sick & couldn’t finish.

Elmer was married today. We finished papering bedroom. Put furniture back in bedroom. Waxed bedroom rug. Power off in evening. Sleeting. I still have awful cold.

Merrill, Vernon, & I painted playroom woodwork to ceiling. Ironed in evening. Had pop corn.

Power came on about 11:30 AM after being off 30 hours. Washed & ironed. Started cleaning boys room. Vernon went back to school after being out 1 week. Merrill went to Lodge.

Merrill took calf to sale at Gouverneur. I went with him. I went to Home Bureau at Mary Beebe’s in evening. Merrill took basket to Archie Holmes. Got plastic drop.

Thunder storm & rainy. I don’t feel too good. I went to Grange in evening.

Sent box to Carl in Japan or Korea. I went to 5th home nursing lesson. Nice day.

Sent birthday card to Uncle Berle. I feel awfully tired today.

Uncle Berl’s birthday. We went to city in afternoon. Got new water pail. Ordered 100 baby chicks.

We went out home for dinner. Jim is sick again. Temperature 104°. Kind of cold today but nice.

Washed & ironed. Jim has 3 day measles so has John K, & Dean W. Got letter from Carl. He is still in hospital. Merrill went to Lodge.

Washed windows on outside. Worked at boys room. Jim feeling better.

I went to Lodge. Jerry Hammond’s 5th birthday. Went over to Vi’s & helped plan Easter breakfast.

6th home nursing lesson. I went. Jim is sick in bed again. Merrill put up posters for dance at Theresa & Antwerp.

School let out today for Easter vacation. 3 days early because of flu & measles. Jim feeling a little better.

Snowing today. Jim got up today. Made ice cream in hand freezer.

Jim & I went to church & Sunday School. Jimmy not feeling so good in PM. Merrill is getting the flu.

Merrill is sick in bed with flu. Vernon did chores. Uncle Ray & Ben helped milk in evening. Raining.

Had Dr. Draper for Merrill. I took 3 calves to Gouverneur to sale. Ben helped with chores.

I went to Grange in evening. Merrill feeling better today. Ben helped with chores. Washed clothes.

Home nursing lesson. 7th. I went with Helen. Solicited for Red Cross. Got $20.00. Merrill’s birthday. (34 years) Made him cake. We gave him pipe. Merrill did chores today.

IOOF dance at school house postponed because of Good Friday & so much sickness. I have sore throat. Feel punk. Carlton Ronas was over cleaning grass seed.

Baked pies & cakes. Snowing some & blowing. Cold. Made appointment with foot doctor for Vernon. [Probably regarding hammer toe.]
