Got Permanent. $6.50. Vernon &Jimmy stayed at Aunt Mildred’s. Got cloth for blouse. Made it in evening.

Went to Ellisburg to 4th Celebration. Stopped over home. Marg & Roy were here in morning. Mowed lawns.

Merrill cut grass & cultivated potatoes. Went over to Dad’s & Grandma’s. Gib Denny was home on 24 hour pass.

Stormed during night & this morning. Quite cool all day. Dot was down. Arlene was down in evening. Popped corn.

Real cool. Ironed clothes. The piece was in paper about how Loren was killed etc. Sent order to Wards for cloth & Ration Board (sugar).

Got letter from Mother T. Sent letter she got from Loren’s buddy. Ken was up in evening. Brought pork up. Vernon went up to Mary’s in PM.

Wrote Mother T. Got pearls, gloves, & belt form Spiegel. Went to Lacona for groceries in evening. Rained in evening. Oren had heifer killed during last storm.

Got ration for 1 tire. Nigger has 5 kittens under steps. Went to Lorraine in evening. Went over home. Dad’s gave Vernon overalls & Jimmy suit.

Drove up to Beulah’s but she was away. Stopped at Marg’s for dinner. Vernon ate with Harwood. Went over home. Merrill hilled potatoes.

Got letter from Mother T. Washed clothes. Rained in PM so we went to Adams. Got Jimmy new shoes. Wrote Aunt Maude. Went to Redfield in evening.

An airplane crashed into the Empire State Building killing at least 15. They put in 11 load hay today.

Went to Henderson etc. Southwicks & over to Dads. Took picnic dinner & ate at Hungerford’s.

They took Beverly to the hospital with convulsions at 3:00 AM. Jimmy got new suit. Dot was down.Washed clothes. Got letter from Carl.

Cloudy & cold. Baked pies, cookies, & doughnuts. Went to Lacona in evening. Pauline, Garmon, Donna, Mom & Dad were here when we got home. Garmon is on 11 day furlough.

Lila’s shower. Made cakes. Arlene went to the shower with us. Had a grand time. Was 23 there. We got over there at 11:00 PM. Wrote to Gloria.

Went to Philadelphia. Had dinner at Uncle Rays. Went to see the farm. Only 2 flat tires on way out. Vernon stayed at Dad’s. Broke my glasses.

Went to city to get my glasses fixed. Got learner’s permit. Left Jimmy at Dads. Rained.

Jimmy sent card to Vernon. The news has been released of the use of the atomic bomb on Japan. Rained.

Got ration for 2 tires. Got canning sugar ration. 40 pounds. Russia has declared war on Japan.

Wrote Mother T. Got my glasses back. Dot was down. Evelyn is sick with asthma. Mowed lawns & washed car.
