80°. I mowed two lawns. Merrill filled silo. Jim and Patty here in evening on way to drive-in. Donna H here. Subscribed for Good Housekeeping magazine for June. Merrill went to milk meeting. They all voted to sell Philadelphia milk plant. Washed and ironed in evening.

Still hot and muggy. Thunder storms in evening. Jim and Patty here all PM. I finished mowing lawn by barn. Men chopped corn. Have had 12 days of beautiful summer weather.

Rebekahs election of officers. Alice LaClair NG, Mary Hall VG, I’m tres. Washed woodwork in bathroom. Merrill went to Lampheres. Ordered lumber for cleaner shed and shingles for barn back. Mr. Clark stopped here. Raining in morning. Nice in PM and evening. Paid school tax $225.38

I painted bathroom. Dyed rugs etc. Merrill chopped corn. Colder and cloudy. Howard and Evelyn bought 1966 red convertible Ford at Syracuse.

Cloudy. I went to city shopping and for groceries. Got black slacks and girdle. Merrill chopped corn. One small load left yet to do . Sun shinning in PM. I worked on 4-H reports all evening. Donna here in evening.

4-H here at 1:30. We have 11 4-H members now. Election of officers. All here but Cathy. Jim here for supper. He had Patty’s car. They went to Ken’s and Vern’s on Sunday.

Merrill started plowing. Did Jim’s washing. Howard chopped standing hay for bedding. Jim here in evening for clothes. Saw old 1940 movie of Loraine’s WSCS Reorganization Meeting. We signed new charter. New year begins in January now. Beautiful day.

Wrote Brenda. Warm 83°. Thunder storm in evening. World Series started. Cardinals 3 Tigers 0. Baked pumpkin bread, donuts, cupcakes, and apple-jack. Sent cow to sale. Howard’s birthday.

Brenda’s 16th birthday. Rainy. We went to city for groceries. Merrill went to Tolcott Falls for plow points and to get milk machine heads cleaned. Fried donuts and made a pumpkin pie. I saw Dorothy Hogaboom at P & C

4-H achievement night at General Brown. Sent birthday cards to Bea G and Mary. Cold and cloudy. Donna and I took kids to 4-H night. Cathy, Jeff and Kevin didn’t go. 2 Gleason kids went. Aunt Maude called to say Lila went back to hospital. pleurisy.

Bea Gehm’s birthday. Also Marg’s. 4-H US and Canada 30th anniversary dedications at Bridge. Sharon, Debby, Vernie Gleason and I put up 4-H window display at Pearls. Jim and Patty here awhile. Real hard white frost last night. Wrote Dot.

Antwerp Installations. I went. Took Lula, Elsie, Vi and Alice. Mary couldn’t go as Roy and Wilma came to say good-bye. Roy goes to Viet Nam. I went to Theresa to puT more flowers in display. Jim and Patty were here in evening. Brought out his new colored TV.

Merrill worked at shed cement work. I washed towels. I went to Theresa with Evelyn and kids to see 4-H display. We had a blue ribbon on it. Jerry judged it today.

Rebekah’s. Martha, Mary and I on committee. Sandwiches, pickles and cookies. Merrill put in cement wall for shed. Washed. Nice day. I read Beulah Halls letter at Lodge. Members wrote she and Les notes. 21 of them. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Pastor here on cycle in evening while I was gone. Sent map to Melba.

I went to church meeting at 9 AM, Rev. Bird and Rev. Doliver called it. I went to city for groceries after meeting. Raining in evening. I was too tired to go to church meeting at Lafargeville with Rev H in evening. I sent Lodge letters we all wrote to Beulah and Les in Florida.

Beautiful day. I washed bedding. Cleaned and mowed lawn by house. Merrill went to Mills in AM about barn shingles. Man was here about zero bulk tank. $2100 plus 300 installed. Got barn shingles. Merrill plowed back side of barn in PM. Called 4-H office for pattern. Rock and Roll dance at Eggleston’s.

Hair appointment at 10 AM. I got perm $10. Beautiful day. Jim here in evening for shot gun to go hunting on camp tomorrow. Got letter from Melba. Lois W, Lois H, Alice, Marge, did book audit at Marguerites. Carrie and Edna there also. Got home at 1 AM

Church supper. Republican by [?] Guild. I helped in kitchen at church until 7. Mary and I went to Theresa Rebekahs Installation. Big crowd there for them, 58. Lois Hanlon and I went to Frederick Insurance to get Lodge Bond. Cost $375. Merrill finished plowing old ground. They started painting the church.

We went to church. Jim here in PM. He’s been sick with flu. Stated to go to week of Prayer and Self Denial Service at Evans Mills but car wouldn’t start. Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis married today.

3 astronauts landed safely after 11 days in space. I went up to Joyce G to plan election supper. Went into city for a few groceries. Called June about 4-H party. Washed and finished ironing. Merrill plowed. A beautiful warm day.

I went to city for groceries. Merrill finished plowing. Got shirt and pants for Steve. Got toy for Danny. Rained hard in evening and during night. I sent Lodge rituals in to be replaced.

Steve’s 4th birthday. Kids got here about 7 PM. Steve and I went to 4-H at Halls. Halloween meeting and party. Jim here for supper. Lynda Bird Johnson had baby girl today, Lucinda Densha.

Marguerite B called from hospital. I was sick most of day with intestinal grippe Bill Mowers here with fuel oil. He bought Jim’s tire $5. I went to WSCS at Esther Taylors. Gave out supper slips. Felt horrid. Sent June’s kids silverware and boys cards.

I was sick in bed all day. Jim and Pat here in PM. Jim had to go to work at 6 PM tonight. Merrill didn’t feel too good today either.

Halloween. Sent notices to WOTT and Times. Called several about supper slips. I feel better today but not well enough to go for groceries. We had 13 kids come trick or treating. Brotherton’s 3, Dimo’s 3, and Hale 1, and Hall’s 6. Got back farm pay check.

Very cold last night 26°. All bombing of North Viet Nam to end today. I went to city for groceries for election supper. I had to go to Grica’s at Adams Center to find large hubbard squash. Got 6 20 lb. turkeys @39¢. Jim and Patty here for supper. Got letter from June. Thunder storm in evening.

They brought load of gravel for driveway. Warmer today. Windy. Merrill washed car. I washed clothes. I cooked 8 pounds of cranberries for church supper. Toby and Jim Decker here in PM. Bill and Vi came down for evening. Vi brought my lettuce and juice Tupperware.

We went to church. Merrill was an usher. Sermons to be on the Bible starting today. Two carloads of Rebekah’s went to Black River funeral home for Esther Taylor’s stepfather. Vi and Zelda went with me. We went to Family Bargain Store after. I broke up bread in evening for dressing.

4-H Food lesson at Plaza. Donna H and I went to it. Foods-Lets Explore. Vi rode out and shopped at Fays. I cooked celery and onions for dressing. Took turkeys to Lois and Edna. Merrill worked at barn. They spread second load of gravel in driveway.

Election Day. We voted at 9 AM. We were #107 & 108. I went up to church to work at 12 noon. We had good turn out at election dinner. Made over $200. I had kitchen, Addie dining room, Humphrey and Nixon running neck and neck when I went to bed.

Richard Nixon elected President at 9:30 AM today. Very close election. I feel tired today. Merrill went to Mills. Got car greased and an oil change at Hills. He put on snow tires today. Jim and Patty here for supper. Jim has been sick with sore throat.

Rained all night and all day. Merrill went to Antwerp for hub caps for winter tires @ $.200 each. I did Jim’s washing and ironing. Wrote Vern’s. Also Mrs. Graco about squash.
