We went to Dick E for baler plugs. We went to Lorraine for Karen and Cindy. Karen’s first visit here. 2 years 10 months old. Stopped for groceries on way home.

Hot. Mowed front lawn. Howard used our baler and Merrill used his tractor and mower as his tractor wouldn’t work. Girls had bath in evening. All night dance at Pats. 9-3 am. 

Cloudy but hot. We took Cindy and Karen to City Park for picnic. They went in wading pool.

We took girls home. Rained hard and thunder storms in morning. Couldn’t hay it. Cindy and Karen didn’t want to go home. Vern’s called in evening. Baked cookies and pies.

Vern, June and boys here for day. Howard, Evelyn and kids here for picnic dinner. We all drawed hay. 3 loads. Beautiful day but on cool side in shade.

Cloudy and cool. Drawed 2 load of hay. Got big Sears catalog. Washed. Got June’s letter.

Merrill’s appointment with Dr. Sommers 11:30. He had x-ray and front tooth filled, $8.00. Drawed hay in pm. 889 bales in barn. Got card from June and Vern. Washed my hair. Donna Hall here.

Bob and Anne Eggleston have baby boy. Dale Robert, 7 pounds born at 5 am.

Toby here all day, Helped hay it. Cleaned field across road. 1099 bales. Merrill and Toby put up lawn umbrella. We had picnic on lawn table in evening.

Rainy. Cloudy day. We went to church. Merrill washed car. Lazy day.

Wrote Vern’s. Foggy in morning. Merrill mowed hay back of ledge. I cleaned Jim’s room. Toby here in evening. Helped me mow lawns. I got letter from assembly president. She is coming September 20.

Hot and humid. Rained all pm and evening. I went to Mills with Evelyn. Merrill went to Depauville for rake part, chain link. Washed clothes. Kenny Rudes called.

Got letter from Jim. He leaves England Thursday, July 20 at 3 pm. I had call from Rev. Jacob’s asking me to go to Aldersgate. I received call from blanch O’Brien. Meet at City Friday. Merrill raked hay. Also cemented porch crack.

Church Barbecue. I didn’t help on it as we had a lot of hay to draw. Got card from Ruth Eggleston. I went to P&C for groceries in evening. Carl Gleason, 17, drowned at church camp. Wesley and Melba’s second son.

Cloudy. Rained some in night. Wrote Vern’s and Dons. Drawed 1 load of hay. Vi and I went to planning meeting at city for presidents. We all went to Howard’s for coffee afterward. Nice evening. Got porch paint.

Don and Juanita’s 17th anniversary. We drawed hay. Toby here in pm and for supper. Helped get a load of hay. He had tooth out. Cloudy.

Cloudy. We went to church. Lazy day. Studied on lodge stuff. Merrill got cow home that got out of pasture a few days ago.

Drawed 1 load of hay. Merrill mowed more hay for Ivan Hale. I baked pies, cookies and meat loaf. Wrote Martha Meeks. Did my hair.

Jim’s last War Bond came today. Hot. Scrubbed porch floor ready to paint. Drawed 1 load of hay. Toby here in evening.

Got letter from June. Juanita called (twice) to say Mom fell by the hen house this morning. May have had a stroke. I painted porch floors. Drawed hay. Mowed lawns. Mom did have slight stroke.

Jim leaves London at 3 pm. Gets to McGuire about 6 pm. Jim called about 9:45 from Mcguire. Just got in. I called Vern’s. June is sick. Danny has a tooth,. Called Juanita. Mom is okay. Can have soft food.

Jim called in evening from Freehold, NJ. He got his discharge at 4:30 pm. He will be home tomorrow. I went out and spent the day with Mom. She seems pretty good. I stopped at funeral home for Sam Zufelt on way home. Merrill got 2 loads of hay.

Jim got here about 1:30 pm. Rented a Hertz car in Albany and drove home. Toby was here when he got here. Howard here in evening. Boys took car to city. Cost him $33.00. Kenny sick and couldn’t come down. Wrote Uncle Berl.

We went to church. Jim went to Kenny’s. We all went out to Moms and down to Kens. Cloudy and rainy. Stormed while we were at Ken’s. Uncle Rays were at Moms. Jim went up to Kenny and Brenda’s in evening.

City IOOF 8:00 pm. I went alone as Martha and John and Jeffrey hadn’t started for home. Merrill went to city. Jim went with Kenny to city. Jim got new watch at Henry’s, $25.00 Timex. Merrill ordered Patz barn cleaner. $1285.00

My appointment with Dr. Summers. 3:00 pm. Had my teeth cleaned and x-rays taken. $10.00. Drawed hay. Jim helped. Also mowed hay. Jim made cabinet in evening for Shells.

Mom got up today. Sick one week. Appointment with Dr. Scanlon at 8:45 am. Have to have all new glasses. Vincent (?) Scee, 27, took his own life Saturday in State of Wash. Merrill and I went out to funeral home . Carl & Evelyn flew home with body. Jim cut brush. 

Merrill baled hay for Ivan H. Jim went to Mill and to city with Kenny. Jim and I drawed hay in evening. Rained in evening. I went to Philadelphia for twine. Stopped at Vi’s. Merrill started lawn table benches. Jim went to bank at Mills.

Rained during the night. Vern’s got here about 3:30. Danny first time here to spend the night. Merrill finished picnic benches. Got letter from Uncle Berl.

Men drawed hay. Had two new calves today. Vern and June and boys left about 7 pm. Toby was here for lunch. We had picnic out doors. Painted benches in evening. Virginia Platz, 45 funeral. Cancer.

Toby stayed over night with Jim. We went to church. Jim went swimming with Toby to Clear Lake. Merrill and I went to Esther & Lloyd Taylor’s camp.

Rained during night. We went to city. Jim got new car at Trotters City. Sunbeam. I got new glasses, not frames, $27.00. Kenny Rudes didn’t pass State Police physical at Albany because of his eyes. Ironed in evening.

Jim got his new car today. I took him to Trotters in evening for it. Merrill and I baled hay. Toby here in evening. Jim made 3 trips to city and went to Adams Center for car insurance. Made cookies. Sharon Hall started $1.00 club. Fred Kastler 79, Boylston is dead.

Jim washed his car. I drove it. Drawed 3 loads of hay. Mom called this morning. She isn’t very strong yet. Jim and Merrill went to Philadelphia and Theresa. Merrill mowed last of hay.

Thunder storms during night. Toby’s horse Wendy had her baby colt this afternoon. She brought it to barn at 5 pm. Jim went after Toby to come see his new colt. I washed kitchen curtains and windows. Started pickles in evening.

Jim took his car for belts and flasher. He and I went out to Mom’s. We found Wendy dead in pasture in evening. Several here in evening to help. Halls, Schells, Russell Wilcox, Kenny & Brenda and kids here also. Got letter from Dot.

Vern’s French test in Syracuse. Toby & Jim slept in barn with colt, fed her every hour. We took her to Jim Schells but his mare wouldn’t accept her. Finished haying finally. 2800 bales. Jim, Kenny and Howard went golfing in evening. Kenny here in pm. Jim & Toby slept in barn.

Toby went to church. He and Jim went to city in pm. Rush Reynolds came with town scrapper and buried Wendy. Boys built coral. Jim Bacon here in evening.

Wrote Dot. Sent sympathy card to Clara Zufelt. Jim went to Westons to see about guard job. Boys put “Star” in new corral yard. Merrill went to to see them put Hales house on wall. Washed. Merrill and Jim mowed yards.

Rained in evening. Merrill helped Summit Home on Jr. Hales house. Washed. Made cookies and donuts to send out to Mom tomorrow. Jim’s insurance man Don Anderson was here in evening. He has $10,000 policy at $17.55 per month.

Ice Cream social at church. I helped on cake. Dave, Doreen, and Debbie went with me. Jim went out after kids. Got muffler put on his car. Toby and Jim went to Gouverneur Fair to see Marty Robbins.

Dave, Doreen, Debbie, and I went to city. Got orange plastic table cloth. Toby and Jim went golfing in evening.

I have horrid cold. Lazy day. Jim and Toby went to city. Bill and Vi were here in evening Jim, Toby, and Dave, went to Star Lite Drive-in in evening. We sent Holly birthday card. Got letter from June.

Holly’s 7th birthday. I took kids (Dave, Doreen, Debbie) to Crystal swimming. Jim started painting at Howard’s. Jim and Toby went to Bay for Pirates night in evening. Lots of folks here to see Star. Toby started her on 3 hour feedings. Jim and Kenny went golfing after supper.

We didn’t go to church. Toby went. I took Dave, Doreen, and Debbie home in pm. We took flowers to Dad’s grave. Went to City Park. Had ice cream cones at Puffs. Merrill baled Ivan’s hay. Toby’s folks were up in pm to see Star.

Washed clothes. Baked cookies. Jim painted at Halls. Merrill built fence on meadow. Toby had to go back to work today. He was here in evening.

I fed Star at 3 am. Ken, Eleanor, Mrs. Frasher, and 2 girls, Roberta, Holly, and Greg, here for picnic dinner. It was so late we didn’t go on Island Tour with them. Jim got job as body guard for Mrs. Bruin, Cape Vincent.

Jim started on new job for Mrs. Bruin. Vern’s got here about 4 pm. Merrill combined oats for Hank Schell. Got slides of Jim’s airplane cake.

Jim worked today. Vern, June, and Steve, got started at 7:30 am for Maryland. Got there at 6 pm. They called in evening. Jim and Toby went to Philadelphia and Theresa in evening.

Star started drinking out of a dish instead of bottle and nipple. Jim got job at Weston’s. Starts tomorrow. Jim and Toby went to drive-in.
