Merrill & Vernon worked at Millard Thompson’s. I took Jim’s record player up to Sears. Paid Sears account.

Merrill combined oats at Kettles. Cool today. They had covered dish supper at Jenny Hayes. I didn’t go. Made Sun dress & jacket, & fixed another sun dress. Vernon worked at Thompson’s.

Rained some. Vern started polishing car. We went for a ride over Gouverneur way to see road. Came to Philadelphia on new road.

Wrote Jim & Mom. Vernon got 3 doors & lumber at Mills. $36.20. Also lumber from Theresa. $7.91.

Merrill combined at Landon’s. Mother Tryon, Beulah, Roger, Danny, Timmy, & Pat were here when I got home. Truck insurance runs out.

Mother Tryon, Beulah, & boys, left about 9:00 AM. Thunder storm in evening. Merrill finished combining at Landon’s. Vernon finished putting on new doors.

Rained. Merrill & Vernon took TV to city.

Vernon went out home after Mom, Dad, Doreen, & David. Also to Ken’s after Jim. Got our TV on way home. Had picture tube put in. $61.60 in all.

Art Haggerty’s were here in evening. Grand day. Merrill combined oats at Hale’s. Vern worked on Howard’s garage. Washed & baked. Juanita came after Dave & Doreen with James Strader’s.

Merrill, Jim, & I, took Dad & Mom home. Went blackberrying but it rained. Got 20 pounds cheese at Smithville. Orv & Angie & kids were here. Richard is home.

Quite cool. Vernon worked on Howard’s garage. Jim stayed all night with Marty Rudes.

Got percolator with green stamps. Merrill started combining at Art Haggerty’s. Broke belt on combine.

Nice warm day. I got Jim’s phonograph from Sears. $3.50. Got legs for round table. $4.50. Merrill & Jim combined at Art Haggerty’s.

Alex Duff died today in Mercy Hospital. Frederick Brother’s called tonight to ask Merrill to be bearer. Merrill finished at Art’s. Moved to Kettles.

Lazy day. We went up to Duff’s in evening with lodges. Raining again.

Alex Duff’s funeral. Merrill & I went. Merrill was one of bearers. Raining again. We celebrated Jim’s birthday in evening. Bill Howard’s barn burned in PM on Elm Ridge Road.

Jim’s 15th birthday. He got cards from June, Mom’s, & Uncle Berle. Vernon went back to Oswego to start teaching. Got letter from Uncle Berle.

I was sick in bed all day. Merrill combined at Kettles. Got just about done.

I went to work today but feel punk. Rained so Merrill couldn’t combine. M. Brotherton’s barn burned in evening. We went. Route 26.

Jim starts in new Philadelphia High School for first. Bob Miller is bus driver. Merrill finished combining at Kettles. Merrill is sick with grippe. Jim only went to school 1 1/2 hours in AM.

I worked in AM. Took TV out. Had to put another picture tube in it. Other was faulty. Rained in evening.

Cleaned, washed, baked, etc. Jim went roller skating in PM. Merrill worked on hay rack.

Jim was sick with intestinal grippe & couldn’t go to school. He was sick in night.

Norm Honeywell came to chop corn. Jim went to school today. First full day for him. He & Harry walked home from Theresa road. Got Christmas cards from Irene Foley.

First lodge meeting of fall. I went. Raining. They chopped corn in PM.

I took TV back to city. Not working right yet. Norm chopped corn for 8 hours today. Got groceries at noon.

Got TV. Was bad new tube. Irene, Fran, Mary, Virginia, & I, went to Howard’s for fish fry.

Norm finished corn. $175.00. Jim went to city with Marty. I went to Gouverneur to get oil change & signal light fixed. Got new beige suit. Ed & Dick Bennett were here.

Kay Rude’s had birthday supper for Marty & Jim. Got Jim identification bracelet. Merrill & I went to open house at New Indian River School.

Marty Rude’s birthday. 14 years old. Beautiful day today. I went to Whites, Loblaws, & Green Stamp store at noon. Sent in 3 picture films.

Rained all night & most all day. Merrill sawed out table tops.

I went to Whites at noon. Changed table legs.

Cleaned in evening. Merrill got wood at Mills. Washed & did some ironing.

Raining. I went to Johnnies & A&P at noon.

Beautiful day finally. Vernon & June came in PM. Made Vernon’s cake. Got pictures. Very good.

Rained all day. Vernon’s 22nd birthday dinner. Vernon got 2 shirts, billfold. Vern & June left about 4:00 PM.

Merrill went to Bill Howard’s auction. I went to lodge. Election of officers. Thelma McKeever, Noble Grand & Evelyn Delles,Vice Grand. Rose LeClair & I bought pizza’s for lunch.

Rained during night. Very hot & muggy all day. Canned peaches in evening. Merrill paid school taxes $161.47.

Jim & I went to Kiechle’s to 4-H meeting. Very warm today.

Raining as usual. We went to city & out home. Furnace man from Sears was here in evening. Ordered blower.

Jim went roller skating. Sun today finally. We went to church. Washed, ironed, & baked. Merrill painted doors & Jim cleaned.

Sunny again today. Merrill went to lodge.

Jim went to “Record Hop”. Merrill sent cow to sale.

Rained all night. Cold today. World Series started today. Yankee’s & Braves. Sent Brenda card.

Howard Hall’s birthday. I got 2 pair shoes at Marsh’s. Low ones $3.99. High heels, $5.99.

Brenda’s 6th birthday. Mary, Irene, Rose, & I, had a $2.00 pizza for lunch. Merrill helped Howard thresh some. Sent Marg birthday card.
