Got groceries at noon. Stopped at Johnnies on way home.

End of club. Didn’t have to work today. Papered doorway in bedroom. Leslie Graves died today.

Art & Doris Haggerty have baby girl. Vernon brought June home for visit. First time. She is very nice. Jim had 4-H meeting here. 15 present. Jim got 25 chickens at Philadelphia feed mill.

Mother’s day. I got 2 pound box of candy. Jim went roller skating. Vern & June, Merrill & I went for ride. Rained all day. Vern & June left about 7:30.

Cloudy but warm. Merrill bought more hay at Art Hall’s. Washed my hair.

Got letter from Mom. Still raining. One of Jim’s chicks died.

I got laid off from Olga today. Beulah H, Vera C, & I, were on refreshment committee at Rebekah’s. Raining.

Roberta had tonsils & adenoids out at Mercy Hospital. Signed for my unemployment. Mary & Sharon went to city with me. Merrill did wiring at Lynn’s.

Went to Gouverneur for grease job & oil change. Rainy.

Turned cows out for first time day & night. Grand day. Washed clothes. Got set of shears from club. Free prize.

Beautiful day. We went out home. Marty went with us. Mom, kids, & I, drove to Ken’s but Roberta isn’t home yet. Was suppose to get home today.

Rainy again. Merrill worked at Lynn’s. Got hair done at Joan’s.

Elsie Bacon, Carrie Lawton, Myrtle Duff, Beulah Hall, & I, left at 6:00 AM for Rebekah assembly at Saranac Lake. Saw Lois W. take degree. Gouverneur put on drill. Stayed all night at Cranberry Lake.

Colder. We went back to Saranac Lake in PM for evening lodge. Garland put on degree & drill. We got back to Beulah’s camp at 1:00 AM.

We got home at 3:30 AM. I went to city to report for unemployment. Raining. Kind of sleepy today.

Merrill & I went to city. Merrill got overalls & shirts. I got picture for living room.

Sent $6.00 to Readers Digest for 3 years. Swell day. Merrill fitted oat ground. Jim put chicks in garage in large box.

We went to Oswego. Marty Rudes went with us. We had picnic at Fort Ontario with Vern & June. Went through new college buildings.

Charles Strader died today of heart attack. Nice day but kind of cold. Wrote Mom. Sent in 2 films. Took Jim to Philadelphia for scratch grain for chicks. Took Marty home from Philadelphia.

Uncle Ray called to say Charlie Strader died yesterday at 3:00 PM of heart attack while working in garden. I called Aunt Esther. Merrill sowed oats for first. Howard Hall had barn cleaner put in.

Merrill finished planting oats. Charlie Strader’s funeral. Brinston Canada. Mom, Marg, & I left for Canada at 10:00 AM from Uncle Earle’s. Stayed all night at Olive Bowman’s. Charles funeral at church at 2:00 PM.

Had dinner at Ella & Everett Straders. Supper at George Peterson’s. Got home about 8:45 to Uncle Earle’s. Went by bridge both ways. Jim went to dance at Theresa.

Howard & Evelyn’s 6th anniversary. Decoration Day. Nice day. Not too tired today. Vernon got home until June 16. Jim went with Howard & Evelyn on picnic. Pauline Garmon & kids were here in evening.

Quite warm. Vern & I went to city. Merrill worked at Shorty Halls. Jim worked at Howard’s all day. Wrote Mom.

Hot & muggy. Thunder storm in PM. Rained all evening. Jim helped Howard until it rained. Merrill & I went for ride to Mills & Antwerp.

New phone number starts today. Midway 2-5511. Vernon started work at Farrell’s for 2 weeks. Past Grands here tonight. Eva Delles & I had them. 14 present. Got pictures back.

I took Vernon’s car to Gouverneur to have some work done on it. Merrill & I went to Enos at Burrville. Merrill got corn planter $125.00. Boys went to Antwerp & got hair cuts.

Wrote Uncle Berle. We planted garden. Swell day. I went to city to sign for unemployment. Washed clothes. They brought corn planted. Jim worked for Howard in evening. Vernon went up to see Claude Bechard.

Thunder storm. Terrible rain. Uncle Rays, Merrill, Jim, & I, went out home in evening to see Carrie Janack, Edie & Floyd Wallace from Michigan. Got home at 12:45. I took Vernon’s car to Gouverneur to get door handle put on.

Lots colder today. Washed. Furnace fire sure feels good. Baked pies.

Cold. Was 27° at Saranac Lake during night. Coldest June 7 on record. Finished ironing. Jim got yard fixed for chicks.

We all went to church. Children’s day. Church was full. Went for ride in PM. Mother & Dad Tryon’s, & Carl’s were here while we were gone. We went to Harrisonville.

Vern went to graduation at Oswego State. Back to work for first since May 14th. Tired tonight. Making wool skirts now.

Raining all day. Made $8.55 today. Jim went to dance at Philadelphia. Got 3rd unemployment check. $24.00.

Russell Schell’s have baby. Bruce Joseph. Changed to Edna Knapp’s machine. Making collars. Lodge, but I didn’t go. Jim helped Howard plant corn. 

Sunny today. No rain. Jim has just tests left. Last day of regular school. Russell Schell’s have baby boy born yesterday.

Friday the 13th. Raining. Merrill planted some corn by barn before it rained.

Cool. Washed. Vern’s last day of work at Farrell’s. Washed, ironed , & baked. Marty was here. Merrill ordered doors for kitchen & bedroom.

Vernon went back to summer school. We all went to Wolcott for dinner. Aunt Cora & Uncle Charles went with us.

Cold & raining. Vernon’s first day of summer school. Jim had tests. Merrill worked at Howard’s.

Mom’s 66th birthday. Sent her card & letters. Still raining & cold. Jim went to Hop at Philadelphia. Danforth farm barn burned about 6:00 PM.

Talked with Vi & Leah. Nice day but rained in morning.

Past Grands went to McCormick’s for supper. Very nice. Got home at 11:00. I drove.

Got letter from Mom. Merrill worked at Howard’s. Rained. Girls got groceries at night. Jim stayed all night at Marty’s. Jim passed. Last day of school.

Got note from Eleanor & Roberta. I went to Gouverneur to get oil changed. They were taking the big Euclid out of river on bridge. 4-H at Neville’s. Jim went.

We went to park for picnic. Ken’s, Dad, Mom, & Brenda there. Other kids have measles. Nice time but kind of cold wind.

Cloudy but warmer. Baked cake. Sent letter to Vernon.

Sent order to Spiegels for dresses. Jim went over to Rudes to help Marty clean garage.

Thunder storm during night. Rainy. Last lodge meeting entertained IOOF. I didn’t go. Jim still at Rudes.
