Merrill, Jim, & I, went to city & got Jim school clothes. Got Vern steel files at Mills. Went to Theresa in evening.

We got Delles Gleason to milk for us. We went to Dry Hill, Rodman, Redfield. Visited Barkers, Buster, Aunt Lila Tiff, Yerdon’s, & Dad. Had supper out home.

Jim’s 14th birthday. Made him cake. Baked it at Evelyn’s. Mrs. Kiechle called. Labor Day.

School opens. I went to corn roast at Lula Rappole’s. Past Noble Grands meeting. Took Bessie Hagan’s chairs home Merrill fixed.

Merrill drew milk for Carleton. Also worked at Mosher’s on coal shed. Rained. Betty Haggerty entered city hospital by ambulance.

7 of us went to Dante’s for Gladys Young’s birthday. Merrill took Father Paul Hagan’s furniture to Morristown in evening. Merrill worked at Mosher’s

Boys & I went back out to city shopping. Vern got school clothes. Merrill worked for Mosher.

Froze corn. Packed 3/4 bushel tomatoes. Cleaned. took car to garage for oil change & greased. Merrill worked for Mosher.

Marty Rudes went home in PM. I took Jim & Marty to Crystal. Cold but they went swimming. Canned 12 quarts tomatoes.

Merrill worked at Moshers. Vern finished toy chest for Hall kids.

Vern sent letters again about stove oven thermostat. Merrill took truck to Gouverneur to have carburetor cleaned. Got 2 new front tires. $45.00. Had flat tire in morning.

Nice day. Went to first fall lodge meeting. Aunt Maude & I were on committee. Merrill started cutting corn.

Muggy today. Went down town at noon. Got Jim watch. Got lamp shade.

Vernon finished working at Madison Farrell’s. Friday the 13th.

I was sick in bed all day long. Vern got things ready for school.

Took Vern to Oswego for his 4th year of college. Merrill & I took him. Stopped at Ken’s for dinner. Jim went to Marty Rudes for birthday party. Walter VanTassel’s 14th birthday.

Angie Montondo got layed off at Olga. Cleaned house & canned 6 quarts tomatoes in evening.

Most of shop went to Mercy Hospital to have blood typed for Irene’s sister. Wrote Mom.

Irene Sweetman’s sister died today of cancer. 42 years old. Beulah & Les were here in evening. Washed. Merrill worked at Philadelphia.

Very warm. Merrill helped fill silo at Howard’s. Howard & Merrill went after corn binder at O’Brien’s. Wrote Vern. Sent him $10.00 for birthday.

Rainy. Merrill cut corn.

Vern’s 21st birthday. Varnished dining room floor. Washed. Howard helped Merrill fill silo. Gave myself Stanley perm.

Merrill, Jim, & I, went to church. Went to Theresa for groceries. We went up to Aunt Cora’s & Uncle Len’s in PM.

Raining. Papered stairway. Vi started riding again. Merrill went to lodge. First in some time.

Cold. Merrill went to Freddie Ayne’s cattle auction.

I went to lodge. Election of officers. Zelda McKeever, Noble Grand. Thelma McKeever, Vice Grand. Jim & I went to Theresa.

Quite cold all day. Jim didn’t have school. Teacher’s conferences. Got letter from Mom. First freezing frost.

Jim & I papered guest bedroom. Merrill started building barn for Brown’s. Merrill got bag of coal. Have coal fire.

Merrill painted & put up peg board in kitchen. Lazy day. Didn’t go to church. Cleaned. Merrill washed car.

Jenny laid off more girls tonight. Merrill worked at Brown’s. Wrote Brenda & sent her $1.00 & card.

Merrill worked at Brown’s. Vernon called tonight. He has very busy year. World Series started. More girls laid off at shop.

Went to Kamargo’s at noon to see about stove contract. Got letter from Vern. Merrill worked at Brown’s. Shorty Hill came home from hospital yesterday.

Got 2 new dresses at Sears. $19.00. Riders got groceries after work. Work 8-4 next week also. Have this week.

Took car to Gouverneur to get windshield wiper fixed. All new one $8.00. Beautiful day. Evelyn Knapp married today. Jim stayed all night with Marty. Merrill has worked all week at Philadelphia.

Beautiful day. We went out home for dinner. Juanita’s mother, father, & sister, were there before leaving 500 mile to live. [?] Grandpa Haggerty not too good.

Nice day & evening. Not many girls working. Myrtle rode home tonight. Alex Duff had eye removed. I went to stork shower for Rosie Daberic at Anna Jario’s. Very nice time.

I didn’t have to work today. Cleaned kitchen. All city schools closed because of flu.

Rebekah’s installation about 75 there. Ate in dining room for first. Washed. Painted peg board. Grand day.

Didn’t get much done all day. Milwaukee Braves won World Series. Got 2 ton coal.

I went to city. Got pay. Only few girls working. No one worked yesterday. Got groceries.

4-H achievement day at city. Jim went. Jim went to recreation night at Philadelphia. Merrill finished at Brown’s. $159.00.

Mr. Gleason of Theresa called on survey for Theresa churches. We didn’t go to church. Art, Doris, & kids, were here in evening.

I took riders in today. Signed up for unemployment insurance. Merrill took 2 calves to Lowville. Bought manure spreader from Guy Huntley. $300.00.

Swell day. Painted doors, registers, windows etc. Merrill bought me Electrolux cleaner. $89.75 from William & Bill.

Mother Tryon, Elmer, Melba, & Ronnie got us up this morning. Were on their way home from Carl’s. Merrill went to auction at Winks.

I went to city. Part for stove hasn’t come yet. Swell day.

Jim didn’t go to school. Coming down with flu. Merrill & I went to auction at Gouverneur. Raining.
