Cloudy. Labor Day. Merrill mowed lawns. Also worked on porch roof in PM. I washed Merrill’s work clothes. Telethon raised over 45 million dollars. Locally they raised $284,000.

School starts today. Merrill went to Mills for more shingles. He finished porch roof. I took corn, cukes, and tomatoes to Cha’s. Just Chomsun and Sammy there. Stephanie with Cha.

We went for groceries in morning. Froze sweet corn. Turned cold in evening.

Temperatures down to low 30’s over night. Sunny. Washed clothes. Joey took old roof shingles to dump. Cost $15.00 at dump for them.

Sunday School opens. We didn’t go. 31 there. 43 at church. Jan Liscomb had service. Very good. A beautiful day. Merrill burned brush pile. Gladys and Ted Lamon here in PM.

Merrill painted rest of trim on house. I washed clothes. Warm, sunny day. Sent for black dress at Blairs, $17.98.

Primary day. We voted at noon. A great day, 70°-80°. Merrill and Elmer Gleason cut door at parsonage for office in front room. I made 2 apple pies from apples on our tree.

Merrill helped at parsonage in AM. They got new door on study in front room. Merrill mowed lawn in PM. Still warm but not as sunny.

We went out to Don and Juanita’s. Stopped at Sears on way for black paint and porch sealer. Another nice day. Don and Merrill went up to Barkers.

Merrill helped Elmer on serving window at church. We went for groceries in AM. Warm today. Rained in evening. Heather and Gilenda here all week.

Washed clothes. Jolie called in PM. She has gall stones and has to have operation. Sees Dr. Tuesday. Cooler but sunny.

We went to church 51, and Sunday School 35. Open house at Town Barn. We went. New court room, clerks, storage, and offices. Merrill helped at church in evening.

Vern’s 56th birthday. Sent him letter, card, and $50 check. I froze tomatoes (stewed). Joel called from hospital. He got hurt playing football Sunday. Spent night in hospital. Went home this PM. Had spleen and kidney bruise.

First day of fall. Raining and windy. Merrill talked to Don about wood.

Merrill met man at church about church bell. Verden Company from Buffalo. Rebekah’s, 13 out. I paid dues, $8.00. Election of officers. Same ones, another year.

Leah’s 78th birthday. Merrill helped at church in evening. We went to church 45, and Sunday School 31. Raining. Patty and Brian Bushaw joined church. I called Sackets. Talked with Joel. He is back in school and feeling okay. They haven’t heard from Jolie. She’s at Shawn’s mother’s. Sue not working. Jim at Sue’s.

A beautiful day. Merrill painted black trim on windows. I washed stand clothes, rugs, etc. I called police about station wagon parked on corner for 3 days.

Cloudy and colder. Rainy. Merrill painted storm windows and trim black in garage. A 14 year old girl was murdered at Fort Drum by gang of boys. 4 arrested. All are Indian River students.

Cold. Snow flurries for first. Jim was here for lunch He has a new 1993 Harley Davidson cycle. Mostly white.

UMW here, 9 present. Joanne Rappole came with Alice F. Much on News about Fort Drum murder, and 4 boys arrested. Victim’s funeral. Cold. Merrill washed, and put on storm windows.

Merrill waterproofed back porch. We went for groceries in AM. My legs hurting bad today.

We went to church 54, and Sunday School 31. World Wide Communion. A great sunny day. We called Vern’s in PM. All are well. Dan’s are home for Corrie’s wedding shower.

Bea’s birthday. Trustee meeting, 7:30. Down to 28° this morning. Cold and sunny day. Gloria Verbridge called. Got our telephone number instead of David’s new number.

Blood mobile at Legion. We went to drug store and then out to Don’s. Stopped at hospital to see Roy but he had been moved to Madonna Home on September 29th. Also shopped at Woolworths. Merrill got first hair cut at Judy’s, $3.00.

Another beautiful day. I’m tired today. Washed kitchen windows. Talked with Lyla. Got letter from Beulah. Roy is in room 805, 4th floor at Madonna Home.

Evans Mills dinner, 5 PM. We didn’t go. Took off kitchen faucet and cleaned it. Great day, sunny and warm. I wrote Blair about dress ordered September 14.

No school for kids, just teachers. Rained hard in AM. We went for groceries in AM.

40th anniversary party for Art and Doris Haggerty at Fire Barn. Huge crowd and a great time. Good supper. Lane brought load of wood from Don’s about 8 cord.

Open House at Cheryl’s for Lyla’s 65th birthday, 2-4. We went. Very nice. Aunt Maude was home. We went to church 50, and Sunday School 31. Raining off and on all day. I called out to Don’s.

Columbus Day. Thanksgiving Day in Canada. No school or mail. Doris H called with Montgomery Ward number Dennis called her with. Merrill worked at wood. Jolie called from Shawn’s mother’s. She is still down there. Baby has cold.

Bible Study at Philadelphia, 7 PM. We didn’t go as Merrill was too tired. He worked at the wood all day. Colder but sunny. I called stove company about stove grates. One’s they have are too large. Heather and Gilenda here this morning.

Got 2nd load of wood from Don’s. Wood truck broke down here so we went to Adams and Don’s. Bob Boscheck got home from Florida last night. Jim here on cycle awhile. Had been to meeting at Gouverneur. He had to get back to work. Gave Don $100 for trucking.

Rainy. We went for groceries in AM. Merrill worked at wood. U.S. Stove Company called. They can’t get grates to fit our stove.

Rained off and on all day. Very windy in evening with heavy rain. Girls here this morning.

We went to church. 45 out. CROP walk today. Cold wind. Elmer Gleason has retired from Bridge Authority.

Sent Aunt Maude birthday card. She’s 87 today. Jim, Jolie, Baby Shawn, Sue, and little Ashley here for supper. Kids are growing so fast. Merrill worked at church in AM. Snowing hard in evening for first.

Girls not here today. Bob went back to work. Merrill helped Elmer at church all day. Everything covered with snow this morning. About 3 inches.

Mom and Dad were married 78 years ago today on the Cooledge farm where her parents lived at the time. Froze beets. Sent copy of check to Blairs about dress I haven’t received. Merrill raked leaves here and helped at church.

Sent Steve card, letter, and $5.00. A nice day. Merrill worked at wood all day. We went for groceries in AM. Got pie filling ready for pies.

Church supper. Merrill went over for take outs. Very good. Made apple and apricot pies for it. They served supper from new kitchen. Have to move stove up yet. Water all hooked up. Merrill finished putting rest of wood down cellar.

Terrible thunder storm late last night and also this morning. I washed clothes. Merrill took garbage and recyclables. Raining. Toronto Blue Jays won series over Atlanta Braves.

Steve’s 28th birthday. Back to standard time. Had wood fire for first this fall. We went to church 70, and Sunday School 22. Sunday School kids sang in church. I called Joel. Jim is hunting.

Merrill took car to D Chevrolet. Needs vacuum pump. Ordered used one at George’s. Raining most of day.
