Haggerty Reunion City Park. We didn’t go to church. Our car started to smoke when we start it and backed out of driveway. We went to Reunion with Lyla. 45-50 there. We ate in pavilion at City Park. Vern and June, Don’s came. Jim went also. Froze peas in evening.

George and Peggy Sepko came after our car in AM. Their son Martin was in car accident in PM. He has head injuries. Sunny but rainy and wind at supper time.

Rev. Carol called to see why we weren’t in church. She thought we might be ill.

Got car home. Had an oil leak. Cost $63.93. Joey took Merrill to Mills. We went for groceries. Sent Don birthday card and letter. Raining again and cold.

Dan and Robin’s 2nd anniversary. We cleaned our bedroom. Lyla was here. Gave me pictures of reunion. Merrill helped on church kitchen in evening. Wayne and Elmer worked also. Vacation Bible School there also.

Paid more bills. Sunny but cool, 60°. It has been a very cool, wet, summer. More like fall. Below average temperatures. Had supper with Sue Boscheck. Merrill helped at church in Evening. He and Wayne only ones to work.

50th anniversary party for Mattingly’s, 1 PM at Johnny’s. We went. Very nice. We went to hospital to see Roy afterwards. He’s confused. Couldn’t talk to us. I called Joel from hospital. We went to church 34. Sharon Hall had twin girls last Tuesday. Hurricane “Andrea” hit southern Florida.

Dr. Kayani 10:15. Eye pressure is 16. Got new drip tray for kitchen stove. Ate lunch at burger King. A beautiful day. Hot in the 80’s.

Hot today. Great. Merrill mowed lawns. I washed dress shirts. Wrote June and Vern. Sent them anniversary card. Steve and girl he works with, Ellie, came over from Gouverneur. Talked with Jolie and Jim.

Hurricane hitting southern states, Louisiana worst. Jim brought Joel oUt to paint. He worked 2 hours. Jim and Joel here for lunch. Very hot and muggy, 88°. Merrill has cold.

Rained in night. Cloudy all day. Thunder storm in early evening. We had first tomatoes and sweet corn from garden. Late this year. Got note from June and Vern. They went to Washington DC last weekend. Today is their 32nd anniversary.

20,000 troops in Florida to help clean up after Andrew. Getting up tent cities for homeless. Cloudy, windy day. Doug Flood, 85 died tonight.

Administrative Council meeting, 7:00 PM. We went. 9 there. Jim and Sue here on bike. Sue not feeling food. Her whole left side bad after fall this summer. To see doctor in Syracuse.

June and Vern here all day. Put on new porch roof on side porch. Nice day. June and I went to store for communion bread. Blue jays are back.

Church back to 11:15. Communion. Two Jones girls baptized. Jones family furnished refreshments after church. Lazy day. We were both tired. Shower for Sharon Patchin’s twins at Legion. I didn’t go. Gave her check for diapers.
