Halloween. A beautiful day. We went for groceries at noon. 22 kids here for Halloween. Merrill put wood down cellar. One more cord to go. A soldier kidnapped a 2 year old boy at Black River. They found him okay. Soldier was arrested.

I canceled Dr. Siegel appointment. Merrill finished putting wood down. 10 cords. Feel better but my eye sight not good. Another great day. Residents are moving into new Philadelphia apartment housing.

Washed clothes. 3 lines full. A great day. Merrill helped Gary put in rest of garage cement. Merrill and Bill Burnes fixed church roof in PM. He ran cleaner on floors for me.

30th anniversary party at Lowville for Bob and Abby. We didn’t go. We went to Sunday School and church, 51 there. Went to Jim and Patty’s for dinner. Vern and June there also. They are planing a 50th anniversary party for us on December 1st.

My arthritis bad today. Cloudy day. Darcy here in evening. George Belile still in hospital with pneumonia. June R here. Merrill went down to fix her shower and sink drain.

Election Day. Raining. We voted at noon. They started working on church today. New basement entrance. Had to quit because of rain. Administrative Council, 12 out.

Clinic: Merrill 102/62 and mine was 132/90 with blood count 13. Merrill’s appointment with Dr. Scanlon, $36.00. He didn’t need change. We ordered fire door for church basement. Got light rings and 2 ballast’s for church basement.

I called Pargos for church. $36.55 tank @ $25.00 per hour labor. Merrill helped at church. UMW at Margaret’s, 11 out. Good meeting. My arms are bad.

Raining and cold. I washed clothes. They didn’t work on church today. Merrill called all over for electrician.

We went to church, 57 out. Rev. Kerr Carpenter’s leave for California for 10 days. Cold. Merrill called Ken Rudes about church wiring. Jim, Patty, Joel and Jill here for supper. Vern called in evening. Rained all day long. Cold in evening with snow flurries. Ministers left after church for Syracuse and California.

Merrill helped at church all day. Got a lot done. No mail or school today. My arthritis real bad. Grace Tryon called in evening.

Raining again. Merrill helped Ken Rudes wire church. Rebekah’s but I didn’t go. Ginny D sick. I baked cookies in PM. Patty and Jill here at noon awhile. Jill has sore throat.

Raining hard most of day. They stopped work at church at 2:00. We went for groceries.

Sent order to Wards for coat for Merrill. Washed clothes. Made vegetable soup. Cheryl H. brought back heater. Merrill worked at church all day.

Got my hair cut at Jim’s, $5.00. Tina VanAlstayne, 30 killed at Watertown Center, Steve Puffer’s girl friend. Spent the afternoon with Aunt Maude. Lila and girls went shopping to Utica. Got home at 9 PM. Terrible storm there. Some freezing rain here.

We went to Church, 41 out. Douglas Ido had sermon. Cobby and Karen helped. Audrey called. Steve Puffer’s girl friend, one of two girls killed yesterday in car accident. Beula Congdon, Danny, and Robert C and Robbins friend Cheryl, and daughter Christie, here in PM and for supper. Great to see them.

Great day. Sunny and warm. Merrill worked at church all day. He went to city for siding for church. Paro’s cleaned church stove and got it going after about 12 years. Cost $63.75.

Warmer. In 70’s today. Cloudy. Got Barbara Mandrell tape. Got $6.00 refund on Prestone. Patty called from Audrey’s. They were going to Tina’s wake. Merrill cleaned oven and cleaned upstairs.

Very windy. Rainy and sunny by spells. They didn’t work at church today. I got birthday cards from Jim’s and Esther Taylor.

My 68th birthday. Got more cards. Got note from Vern’s. His leg still sore. We went for groceries. Got free 10 pound turkey. We went for groceries. Merrill helped at church. New addition looks so great.

Got first snow, about 2 inches. Plow was over for first. June R here in PM to show us Susan’s senior pictures. Gladys Lamon called. My arms bad.

Merrill went to Whites for church door. Cloudy. Washed clothes. Made cookies for Sunday School food sale. Got note from Beulah Congdon. They had good trip home.

We went to Sunday School and church. Good sale for Sunday School after church. Rev. Kathy Kerr-Carpenter preached. Rev Collin at her church. Jim’s here in PM and for supper.

Jim goes back on night shift tonight, 8 PM to 4 AM. Merrill helped at church. We went to city in PM. Got eye drops, $11.66 now. Ben K here twice about door. Sent Vern’s card and letter. Got candy to take to Jim’s on Thursday.

Snowy off and on. My arms real bad today. Merrill sent for Dodge license, $36.25. Made cupcakes and cake in evening.

Church at Philadelphia in evening, we went, about 25 out. We brought money and canned goods for Urban Mission. Cloudy and cold all day. Very slippery. I washed dark clothes. Made cheesecake for tomorrow.

Thanksgiving. We went to Jim and Pat’s. Delicious turkey dinner. Audrey went with us. Terrible weather. Snow, freezing rain off and on. Florence and Earl’s 49th anniversary.

We went for groceries. Merrill went to Whites in PM for church door handles. I made 3 bean salad.

Mrs. Barnes called. Rev. Barns ill with flu so that he can’t come to our party. Got card and letter and $5 check from Roy and Beulah. Cards from Mattingly and Cameron’s. Baked ham, scalloped potatoes, and made salad for tomorrow. Merrill went over town.

Our 50th anniversary party at Philadelphia Fire Hall. Everything just lovely and great. Almost 100 folks there. Vern and Jim’s left about 7 PM. Ken and Eleanor about 11 PM. June R and Arland Hall here in evening. Gave us red apple cookie jar. Whole family went to church with us to start the day.

Charge conference at Mills. Postponed because of stormy weather. Bad all day. We are both tired today. Linda and Joey over in evening with cards and money gifts. Gary took George to Syracuse today. He goes back Sunday to enter hospital.

Corrine Simonds here to get contract signed again. Merrill and Bill Mowers set up Nativity Crèche on church lawn. Wrote Vern’s. Got more cards and money. Got letter from Mary Hall. Lynn really bad. Marty here to use phone.

Cloudy and in the 30’s. My arthritis terrible today. Merrill went to Roy K and got straw for church manger.

UMW Christmas meeting, covered dish supper in church basement after 12 years. 10 present plus Rev. Collin. Collected $27 for missions. Went for groceries. Lynn Hall weak. Back to Ogdensburg hospital. Merrill called Evelyn.

Snowing some. We put up some Christmas decorations. June R and Arland Hall here to use phone. Made rolls for Bazaar tomorrow.

UMW Bazaar. Made over $600.00. Sent rolls, date bread, and sandwiches. Merrill went to Fargo’s for tree, $5.00. Set it up.

We went to church, 67 out. Cloudy day. Called Audrey. She fractured her shoulder Friday in a fall. Howard and Evelyn here to spend evening. Had a great visit. Evelyn’s brought cookies. Gave us gold tray.

Sent PPR report. Also card and letter to Roy. Cha was over. Freezing rain and very slippery. Warmer with rain in evening. Times didn’t go.

We went to city shopping. Went out to Don’s in PM. Juanita wasn’t home. Started snowing while we were there. Slippery coming home. My arms hurt. Got more cards.

Our 50th anniversary. We were married on a Wednesday also. Snowing again. Wrote Jim’s and sent first Christmas cards. Got more anniversary cards and Christmas cards. Got note from Vern’s. The college student that drowned was a college friend of Steve’s. Evelyn called.

Sun out today. Merrill cleaned out driveway with snow blower. Wrote more thank you cards. Got more anniversary cards.

Merrill helped decorate church. Frieda and Sina doing it. We went for groceries. Friday the 13th. Merrill worked at church. Did snow blowing in PM. I wrote thank you cards. My arm hurting bad.

Sunny but cold. Got Jim’s kids pictures. Very good. Merrill cleaned driveways. Washed clothes. Sent 43 more thank you cards. Got Christmas cards. Got back check for Merrill’s coat. Item not available. Patty called. Storming in Oswego. Postponed going out to dinner until later.

Vi’s birthday, 71. We went to church, 54 there. Stormy and cold. Called Evelyn to say we wouldn’t be down. Lydel’s canceled also. Worked at cards.

Merrill cleaned driveway. Snowing again. Terrible in PM. Addressed more Christmas cards in evening. Got Christmas card and note from Dowells in California.

Merrill went over town. Took Christmas cards to Vera R. Storming terrible here in PM. Lowville and Adams way have been getting it all day. Marty over in evening.
