Windy but sun out all day. Snowed Sandy Creek and Oswego way. Called Ken’s neighbor, Lewis Weaver, about cows. Decided to sell part of them. Wrote Vern’s. Got note from them. I went for groceries. Got snowsuit from Vi for Jill.

4-H Halloween party at Dawn’s, about 25 there. Nice time. Merrill and I there. Boots and I went for groceries. Lewis Weaver bought 7 cows. $3650. Paid $2500 down. Took 2 of them home with him. Man from Copenhagen here to look at 11 more.

Sold 5 heifers to Robert Scoville, Copenhagen. $2250. Worked on 4-H enrollment. Trumble is taking other 6 cows to DeKalb Junction on Wednesday.

Halloween. Nine kids here. Snowy in evening. Old time starts at 2 AM. We went to Sunday School and church. 51 out to church. Mrs. Cameron called to say Bob Griffin is in hospital with emphysema and heart failure. Rainy and cold.

Sent for silverware for June. Wrote Pauline Cornish. Sent Bob Griffin card. Wrote Vern’s. Sent $1 to TB and Bible Society. Merrill and boots went to Mills and had snow tires put on. Jim and Kenny went up to woods hunting for a week.

Voted at 8:45 AM, Numbers 46 and 47. Lewis Weaver came after his other five cows, Paid $1150 balance. Merrill dug carrots and beets. Jimmy Carter won US President by narrow margin over Jerry Ford, by 2%

Merrill went to Theresa bank and to Vi’s for kids clothes. Nice day. Warmer. Sent milk for last time. Sent 6 cows to replacement sale at DeKalb Junction, Trumble. Patty, Jill, and Joel here. Jim is still hunting. Got invited to party for Ken and Eleanor’s 30th anniversary. We went to Bible Study. Only 5 out.

We went to city and out to Mom’s. Had lunch there. Stopped at L.J. Chellis. Paid off Farm Loan, $1048.99. We still own 107 shares of stock, value $535. They say 8% interest this year. Stopped at Uncle Lloyds and Beulah’s. Stopped at hospital to see George Waters and Bob Griffin. Got apples and potatoes.

Got cow check, $1133 profit. Merrill and Boots went to Agway for a handle, $3.19. Merrill cut wood. Washed clothes. Nice day. Don Turner here for Extension Dues, $3. Got 4-H stuff. 4-H here. Nine here. Business meeting. They danced afterward.

Wrote Vern’s. Merrill cut wood. Hank Schell’s sister, Eleanor (Arnold) Brown died of cancer. Canned 7 quarts of carrots.

4-H here. Oriental supper. 9 here for supper. Brancatella’s, Lamica’s and Jackie not here. Very warm. Merrill fixed threshold at Parsonage. Jennifer Bush joined 4-H. Called Aunt Maude. She and Cheryl and Marion are going to Gilson’s tomorrow.

Dr. Scanlon, 1:30. Everything OK. Ordered new glasses at Chellis as my frames are falling apart. Didn’t need new lenses. Merrill got me Brother typewriter at Century. Got new coffee maker, glass, $5.70. Got eye drops and iron pills at Fays. Merrill put $1000 in Philadelphia bank.

Agway dinner. I worked. Merrill won thermometer. Snowed and slippery in evening. Lorraine, Marie and Linda waited on tables.

Tired all day. Headache. Merrill worked at Carl Horton’s 2 1/2 hours, @ $10. He put wood in. Got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s in evening. We went to Bible Study, 8 there.

Wrote Uncle Berl. No school. Lorraine here to sew on 4-H formal. Merrill cut wood. Boots and I went for groceries. Took supper money to Vi. Dick Drake, 52 died of heart attack yesterday.

No school. Over 4 inches of snow over night at Oswego. We went to city. I got all new glasses at Chellis, $94. Got black shoes at Woolworth’s. Did Christmas shopping. Run car thru car wash and wax. Sent Leslie birthday card. Today is his 62nd birthday.

Party for Ken and Eleanor’s 30th anniversary. 7 PM Buffet. About 100 there. Nice party. Vern and June came. Called Patty and Mom. Jim is on undercover assignment in city. Kids sick with colds again . Merrill worked at Carl Horton’s.

We went to Sunday School and church, 70 out. Open House at parsonage and reception for new members. Not many out but very nice. We cleaned stove pipes in morning.

PNG’s at Vi’s. 14 out to it. Power off from 8:30 to 10:00 PM. Canned 7 quarts of carrots. Merrill cut wood.

Ken and Eleanor’s 30th. Jim, Patty and kids here for PM and supper. Jolie still sick with cold. Jill and Joel better. Made pie. Merrill put lock on at parsonage. Merrill dug dahlia’s and put lawn fence away.

Merrill cut wood all day. 2 loads. I washed white curtains and clothes. Nice day. Warmer. Our ad is in Town and Country paper about dumping station.

Rainy and cloudy. Got letter from Beulah Hall. Sent cookie recipe. Boots and I went for groceries.

I was sick all night. Didn’t go to city. Sent order to Sears. Washed and ironed kitchen curtains. Merrill painted porch door. He cut wood in AM. Jeff here to borrow gear puller.

Howard and boys helped Merrill pile rest of hay partition [?]. Brought over three heifers to board. Waxed kitchen floor. Washed rugs. Merrill got hair cut at Theresa. Dawn and Paura [?] here to sew pot holders. Got letters from Marg and Uncle Berl and Vern’s. Aunt Keitha real sick.

My birthday, 59th. Merrill gave me Brother typewriter. We went to Sunday School and church. Tracy Robertson in charge. Cameron’s in Florida for new 75 car. We went out to Mom’s in PM. Ate lunch in Carrolls. Stopped at Mercy Hospital to see Aunt Keitha. Gave Debby card and $1.

Debby’s 17th birthday. Washed clothes. Mom goes to Dr. Roberts. Made pies. Cameron’s got home from Florida with new car, $4700. Administrative Board meeting, 10 out. Good meeting. Kinley Bowers our new mail man started today.

Mom called in evening. Aunt Keitha had operation. They took part of her stomach. Dr. Roberts gave Mom kidney medicine. I made cookies, donuts, and rolls. Snow flurries. Lots of snow in Adams and Oswego way. Got card and note from Ken’s. Merrill cleaned floors.

Terribly snowy here all day. Called Vern and Dan not to come tonight. Nice there. We worked at church. Went to Theresa. Merrill got snow shovel, $7.15. Thanksgiving eve service at Methodist Church. Only about 60 there because of weather. Antwerp, Oxbow and Evans Mills. Nice service.

Vern and Dan got here about 10:15 AM. Rev. and Mrs. Cameron came for dinner also. Nice day together. Aunt Maude called in evening. June and Steve are in Florida at Gehm’s.

Vern and Dan left about 9 AM. Warmer. Raining. We put curtains on stairway. I put up 6 TV turkey dinners. Jim and Patty called in evening. Jim has tickets for us for Freddie Fender, PBA Show.

Rainy, Windy, sun out some. Snowed all gone. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. I washed clothes. Ironed table cloth. Washed my hair. We went to Freddie Fender show at the high school put on my PBA. Very good. Every seat taken for two shows.

We went to Sunday School and church, 77 and 12 out. Patty and kids came in PM and dinner. Her car bothered. Had to start it with jumper cables. Kids colds are getting better.

Mary Hall called. Lois L birthday, 63. June and Steve got home. Merrill finished Horton’s barn door. Snowed during night. Bill here with fuel oil. Jackie Hill went to Mercy hospital yesterday.

Stormy all day and evening. Merrill worked all day at Howard’s putting on door. I canned beets, and carrots. Wrote Vern’s. Lots of snow.

Still snowing. Merrill worked at Hall’s doors in PM. Jeff laid new carpeting in dining and living room for Evelyn. I canned 7 pints of carrots for Patty.

Still snowing. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. I got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s. Power off on this road from 10 to 2 AM. Very cold in evening. 20 below during night. We put up Christmas decorations.

4-H lesson , “Let’s Have a Party”. 8 here. A beautiful day but very cold. Merrill and Ray Petrie measured church fellowship room for insulation. Claude took light number for CEC.

We went to Sunday School and church, 47 out. We went to Arts and Crafts Musical at the High School in PM. Called Jim’s in evening. Snowing

Merrill worked at Philadelphia Craft store. I made 4 pumpkin bread. Jim, Pat and kids here for supper. Nice day. Warmer.

UMW Christmas supper meeting, 6:30. 15 out. A great covered dish supper and meeting. We gave gifts for Utica Center and took money collection for Ruth. Marg Keichel new President, Marilyn VP, I’m Devotional Leader, Vi, Treasurer.

Rebekah’s and PNG’s Christmas meeting. 6:30 supper, pumpkin bread, Very nice, 20 out. Martha B. was my Secret Pal. Gave me nice milk glass candy dish. Merrill took me to Lodge. He stayed at parsonage. Didn’t have Bible Study. Merrill finished job at Craft Store. Went to Mills.

Very cold all day. We went to city Christmas shopping. Went to Blue Cross office. Went down to Sackets and had supper with Jim and Patty. Patty called in morning. Jim got her a new dishwasher. Merrill got winter lace up rubbers at Fays.

Claud W. called to say church could get insulation thru North Country. Save trucking charge. Rainy and windy. We went after groceries in PM. Washed my hair.

Our 41st anniversary. We decorated pole at Philadelphia for 4-H. Lorraine helped. We went up in PM. Went to Fargo’s and cut a tree, $1.75. We put up “No parking” signs at church. Cleaned house. Washed clothes. Vince here with gas. Sent package to Dot. Vern and June called in evening.

We went to Sunday School and church, 70 there. Gave $1 for Tracy’s gift to Mrs. R. Merrill took car to Jacks to see about loose tail pipe. I wrapped gifts all evening.

Finished wrapping gifts in morning. We went to city to finish shopping. Still have a few small gifts to get. Cold all day. Below zero most of time. Mom called in evening. Ken is sick in bed. His back.

We worked at church in PM. Carl, Cheryl and Esther also. decorated church. Mr. Pancho cleaned walks of ice. Jim, Pat and kids here for supper.

Sent a few Christmas cards. First ones I’ve sent. Set up tree and decorated it. Howard called to ask if I wanted a kitten.
