Sure sore and lame from fall with Jill. Cut my hair.

Merrill got hair cut. Got insulated underwear at Pearls. Cold all day. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Lisa here to make out 4-H report. Mr. Pilbeam died this morning.

Halloween. 7 kids here. Washed clothes and our bed room curtains.

Larry N whitewashed barn, $37.45. Raining. I ironed bedroom curtains. Washed bedroom woodwork. Made 4 loaves of pumpkin bread. 4-H Halloween party at Hills. 30 there. Very nice time. All there but Dawn.

We went to church. I’ve had headache all day. organ committee are going to Syracuse November 15th to price organs. Joyce gave us tickets for The Hiding Place movie. Got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s.

There was an earthquake at Fort Drum and Lewis County. We didn’t notice it. Was at 4 PM. Made pumpkin pies. Also bread and meat loaf.

Election. We voted at 1:15. Numbers 105 and 106. I went to Bible Study. Jim’s here for supper. Jim brought out cement mixer and bikes to store. UMW in evening at Esther Taylor’s. 14 out. A good meeting.

Cleaned house. Merrill cut wood and put 2 load down cellar. Russell Maley here about Extension dues, $3. Elaine Phillips here to spend afternoon from Gouverneur.

A beautiful warm day. Merrill cut wood. Helen Bush here to see if Jennifer could join our club, 4-H. I went over to see Joanne Rudes. She is going to help with 4-H sewing. Got groceries at Philadelphia.

4-H here. Oriental supper. 9 here for supper. Brancatella’s, Lamica’s and Jackie not here. Very warm. Merrill fixed threshold at parsonage. Jennifer Bush joined 4-H. Called Aunt Maude. She and Cheryl and Marion are going to Gilson’s tomorrow.

Aunt Maude, Cheryl, Marion went to Gilson Strader’s in Ottawa. Linda Hough and David Hanson’s wedding at Ellisburg. A beautiful wedding and reception. Fire Hall. Very large. Rained hard in PM but warm 70°. We gave them electric chime clock. We didn’t to up to Mom’s. Sawyer family at church. We didn’t go.

A beautiful day, 74°. We went to church. David Johnson rode home with us. His bike had a flat tire. We went for ride in PM, to Dexter and city. Lamon’s not home. Got bushel of apples at Seaway gardens. Jim, Olive, Elgin and Carmy Bowman and Mr. and Mrs. Sequin here in PM.

Got letter from Beulah Hall. She sent Merrill IOOF Secret Word Key. Washed clothes. Cooked squash for Agway supper. Cleaned oven in evening. Merrill and Boots went to bank, Philadelphia and Theresa. Very stormy off and on all day. Terrible wind in evening. Lots of damage.

Agway dinner. Fed only 468 this year. Roast beef, tough. Jim, Pat, and girls here for lunch. On way to Gouverneur to Elaine’s. Mike and Doreen here in PM on way to Potsdam.

Rebekah’s and Past Noble Grands. 18 there. Mary, Diane and I on committee. Had cake with strawberry topping. Tired today. Got letter from Vern’s. Merrill put on storm doors. Put on new leather for water pump. Larry Patshin in accident.

Rained all day. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Boots and Merrill went to Theresa for belt for pump. Took organ money to Weaver. Mike and Doreen here for supper. Came from Potsdam. Had been to Straders.

Dr. Scanlon, 1:30. Everything OK. I have low-tension glaucoma. He has several more cases of it. Pressure 17 in each eye. First snow of the season. Snowed all day. Vi and AI went to city all day. She had a hair in her eye.

Organ Committee didn’t go to Syracuse. Elaine Phillips and Dennis Hallick’s wedding, 4 PM at Gouverneur. Jim and Pat attendants. Jolie and Jill here in PM and evening. Nice day. Ground covered with snow still.

Nice day, but cloudy most of time. We went to church. Mowers and us went to McDonalds for lunch. We went to see The Hiding Place movie at the Cinema II. Very good.

Tired today. Washed clothes. made dark green slacks and blouse. Called Dr. Roberts. Can’t get appointment until December 1st.

Nice day. I went to Bible Study with Ruth. Mrs. Johnson went for first time. Merrill fixed chimney at church. It was cracked. Very foggy in morning. School delayed 1 hour. Eclipse of moon tonight.

Merrill took car to Gouverneur for new plugs and points, $33. Washed clothes.

Nice day. Warm. Merrill cut wood. I put up curtains on stairway. Got Christmas gifts picked out of Sears Catalog. Got cards and notes from Marg and Roy, June and Vern. Didn’t got Times paper.

My 58th birthday. Rainy day. Wrote Vern’s. Sent Christmas order to Sears. Sent Debby card and letter. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Merrill gave me card and $5. Debby, Patty, Jolie, and Mom called me. Debby going to Cagden’s [?] for a week. Got card from Ruth and Clarence Schell.

Debby’s 16th birthday. Nice day but cold wind. I finished green slacks. We stated sleeping down stairs tonight. Got card and note from Ken’s. Asked us to Thanksgiving. Watched movie Grapes of Wrath on UVH station.

Public Address System dedication at church. I presented it to the church for UMW. 97 at church. We went to city in PM. Jim’s here in PM while we were gone.

Administrative Board meeting. 11 out to it. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. I got B-12 shot from marilyn. Got cards and note from boys.

Nice day but cold wind. I went to Bible Study. Got card and letter from Uncle Berl. He forgot my birthday. Got letter from Pauline Tryon Cornish.

Clarence and Ruth Schell’s 50th wedding anniversary. Thanksgiving eve church service at Antwerp. We didn’t go. Baked filled cookies and 2 pumpkin pies. Cleaned house. Washed clothes. Sent for car plates.

Thanksgiving. We didn’t get to Vern’s. It was storming so much in morning. Ground white in AM. Vern’s called and I called them back. Manure spreader broke. Merrill worked all PM and evening on it. Got it fixed. Aunt Maude called in evening.

Organ Committee goes to Syracuse. Heck’s, Tryon’s, Cheryl Horton, Esther Taylor, Alice Flaherty, and Mrs. Cameron. Bought Hammond 13-3 organ $4495 at Clark’s Music Store. Called Vern’s

Go to Vern’s. A nice day. Delicious dinner. Jeff Meeks went with us from Meeks at Theresa. He came home with us for the night. I got groceries at Philadelphia in morning. Got car plate sticker and license.

A nice day, 62°. Windy in evening. We went to church. Jeff went back to Philadelphia with us. 107 in church. Jim, Pat and girls here for supper.

Dr. Roberts, 3:30. Everything OK. I have to have blood tests at hospital. Mrs. Roberts in Syracuse hospital for back disc operation.

UMW, 6:30 covered dish at CEC, 17 present. Election of officers. Marilyn Compeau, Pres. I’m Vice Pres., Esther, Secretary, Vi, treasurer. Collected $30 for Ruth Stewart. Packed 4 boxes for Marjorie Nellis. I sent 4-H report for club. Couldn’t get Lisa on phone. Phones out all around. Ours is OK.

Sent UMW President’s name to District Secretary. Power Corp put line to Frank and Judy’s house. Washed dining room and kitchen curtains. Also tub of clothes. A beautiful day.

Had blood test at hospital, Vi, Esther and I went to city all day. Left at 9 AM. Got home at 4:15. A beautiful day. Not too much shopping done.

Dr. Sommer’s, 11:10. He took first impressions. Also smoothed off bottom tooth. Got groceries at Philadelphia. 4-H Business meeting. 9 members, 3 guests. Isabelle and Annamaria Brancatella, from New Jersey, and Kenny L. Merrill went to Mills. Saw Brenda.

Wrote Vern’s. Raining but warm, 50°. I put up most of Christmas decorations. Got first Christmas card from Carl and Pauline Cornish. Bobby and Anne Eggleston here to spend evening.

We went to church. 92 out. We went to city in PM. Ate at Ponderosa for first time. Called Patty. Jim was working at Children’s Christmas party for ARC

2 mini busses started running at Watertown today on the main street. We went to Antwerp for gift for Jim, jig saw. I made applesauce cake and chocolate chip cookies in evening. Got Christmas card from Charlotte and Francis J. McGregor Jr., Sodus. Washed my hair.

Dr. Sommer’s, 10:30. Worked on impressions. I didn’t go to Bible Study. Got home at 12:30. Sent Roy card and letter. Got card and $10 from Dot M. Jim, Pat and girls here for lunch and supper. Merrill and Jim went over to Bill and Brenda’s to help put on ceiling tile. Snowy and rainy and freezing.

Got anniversary card from Jim’s. Roy’s birthday. Icy. The guy came from Canton to check cows. Three still bad. Merrill worked at Brenda’s in PM. Rebekah’s, 6:30 covered dish supper. PNG’s after Lodge. 20 out. Nice time. Lois Loury my new Secret Pal. Marguerite had my name. She gave me cute bracelet.

Our 40th anniversary. George Waters gave Merrill tie pin and me bracelet for our anniversary. I bought bolo tie for Uncle Berl and Vern. I got ring. Went to Dr. Sommer. They called for 3rd filling. Got card from Vern. We went to LeRay Restaurant for supper. Got order from Sears.

A nice day but cold. I sent packages to Uncle Berl and Lettie, a telephone note file and bolo. Sent Dot hat and mitten set and cross neckless. Left can goods at Leah’s for Sammy Sampson family. I helped at covering boxes for Sunday School program.

Hair cut appointment, Donna’s, 2 PM. Merrill and I helped Horton family decorate church. Men put up manger on church lawn. Aunt Maude called in evening. I sent first Christmas cards. Benefit dance at Legion for Sammy Sampson.

We went to church. 96 out. Nice sermon. MYF went to Samaritan Keep Home with gifts and program in PM. We went up to Philadelphia and put evergreens from Esther around manger. Got tree at Shell station, spruce, $3. Mrs. Cameron called in evening. Catholics are using CEC. Addressed cards.

I got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s. I went to city shopping afterwards. Got just about everything. Raining about all day. Colder in evening. Washed in evening. Called 4-H Jr. Leaders about Banquet. Got Christmas cards from Rose P. and Lamon’s from Florida.

I went to Bible Study. No more until next year. 4-H leaders dinner dance at Northside, 7:30. Marie and Linda Hall went with us. Lynn, Mary, Lorraine, and Kevin went. Turkey dinner. They danced, Laura Payne sang. Her grandmother and Uncle took her. Jim’s here for lunch and PM.
