Dr. Roberts, 3 PM. He started me on iron capsules. Merrill got Timex watch, $18. Got slacks, $6.50. White frost during night. I went to Rebekah’s. Martha and I on committee. Sandwiches and pickles.

Reservations in for Black River Ontario meeting. Finance committee meeting, 7:30. Nominating, 8:30. Boots and I went after groceries. Milk inspector here. High counts for 2 days. Merrill cleared some of garden.

Dr. Sommer’s, 11:45. I had three teeth out, $24.. Pat B. here in AM. Rainy and cooler. I got up with headache. Telephone out. Keith DeGraw house, Preston’s, burned during night.

Merrill went ot Hales to report phone still not working. Pat reported it yesterday. Sent Minnie Pike late birthday card. She is my Secret Pal. Doris, Vicki and boys here. Renewed Readers Digest and Moody Monthly magazine. Uncle Berl’s and Vern’s and ours. Made cookies until oven element broke.

Telephone still out. They got it so it works but will come tomorrow to fix phones. We went to church, 108 there. Sorted magazines in PM. Lorraine H called.

Paid school taxes, $445.63. PNG’s at Willabelle’s, 15 there. Jim, Pat, and girls here for supper. Patty made cheese cake. Merrill, Boots and I went to city for stove oven element, $15. ordered light, $3.95

I went to Bible Study with Ruth. It was at Margaret Gingerick’s house. Ten there. Merrill drawed wood. Cut some. Washed my hair.

Had tooth out at Dr. Sommer’s, $10. No more out until I get dentures after Christmas. Canned lasts of tomatoes, 7 quarts. Got note from Mrs. Beardsley. She is giving Merrill smoking stand.

Black River Ontario District Meeting, Beaver Falls, 9:30. Mrs. Cameron, Margaret M. Vi, Esther and I went. Esther drove. Very nice meeting and lunch. Rained in PM. Lunch and meeting at new Bremen Mennonite Church.

4-H, 7 PM. 6 going to talent show. Boots and I went for groceries. Got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s. Sent Vern card, letter and $5. Merrill went to Theresa and Mills. He got new boots at Pearls, $6.69.

Rainy. I washed clothes. Merrill cut brush in front of Halls.

Vern’s 39th birthday. We went to church. Stopped at Heck’s for 4-H stuff. We went for ride to Oxbow and Creek Road. Leaves are so pretty. Mary H here in evening.

Administrative Board meeting, 8 PM. 9 there. All apportionments paid for year. Merrill and I went. Wrote Mrs. Beardsley. Patty called to say Marty Rudes, (31 last Thursday, September 15), was killed near city this morning. Truck hit him.

Rebekah’s President visit, Alex Bay, 118 there. I didn’t go. Jim, Pat, and girls here. Jim and Pat spent afternoon at Martin and Kay’s. Autopsy showed Marty had a fatal kidney disease in both kidneys.

Rev. Johnson, wife, and son moved into Frank Payne’s house from Briar Hill. Rainy. We went to funeral home for Marty Rudes, 31. So many flowers. I went to Rebekah’s. Diane elected NG, Martha VG. Merrill stayed at Bills.

Marty’s funeral, 11 AM. Church full. Some in fellowship room. We went to cemetery. Rained all day. Jim came alone. Couldn’t get baby sitter for girls. Sent 4-H reports except Jr. Leader’s. No blanks. Brenda and boys here in PM. Cheryl had Tupperware party but I didn’t go. Martin Rudes called in evening.

4-H talent show. Lisa, Donna, Alison, and Laura performed. Laura got blue. Ruth and Anne went with us. Watertown and County declared State of Emergency because of rain. A lot of city streets flooded. Martin Rudes and Kay’s sister, DiCrisafi [?], here in evening. Got Dr. Pinkerton’s bill. $34 for 2 visits.

Wrote Vern’s. Washed clothes. Merrill gathered wild apples. Nora was here to fill out Jr. leader report.

We went to church. Had meeting after church to elect Sky Weaver treas. of organ fund. Don Sherman may leave October 8th. Lorraine, Marie, and jamie here to fill out Jr. Leader’s reports.

Washed clothes. Canned 15 cans of applesauce. Frank and Judy Payne started new home by Hales.

Ecumenical meeting, CEC, 6:30, covered dish. Very nice. About 65 present. Catholics our guests. Celebration group from Holy Family sang. Merrill took Boots to rabies clinic in evening. Helped set up tables in PM. Merrill mowed part of lawns.

Pick up 4-H cookies at office. 15 cartons . We went to city. Got two pant suits at Sears. On sale. Called Patty. Made eye appointment for Merrill. Will be spring.

Sent Brenda card. Vi and I went to visit Ruth Schell. Got groceries. Cold. Theresa Installation. I went with Martha. Merrill got points and plugs for lawn mower at Floods.

Merrill finished mowing lawns. 4-H here. Election of officers. All members here. 14 of them. Boxed and took home cookies for sale. Sent $34 to Dr. Pinkerton, Kingston, Canada. Wrote Mary. 14 Rebekah’s had memorial service at Mills for Carrie Fike, 91.

Mary and girls put up 4-H display window at Donna’s shop. Garden projects. I cleaned and waxed around rugs, and kitchen floor. Aunt Maude called to say Ida Petrie, 46, died of heart attack. Merrill cut wood.

Communion Sunday, 75 out. We went out to Mom’s. Had dinner there. Ken’s came up. Brought lard. She got 19 pounds. Bill and Vi here in evening. We stopped at Marg and Roy. Marg’s birthday. Marg gave me crabapples. We got pears and potatoes.

Wrote Beulah Hall. Jim’s here in PM and supper. Patty made 3 pair of slacks, maternity. Jill had shots. Made her uncomfortable and sore. We went to funeral parlor for Ida Petrie. Mastitis control guys here. Lots wrong.

Got blue award, 4-H window. UMW, Mrs. Gladys Barane guest speaker, about 30 there. Very nice. Merrill and Boots went to city for milking machine pump. Got used one at Bisnetts for $125. Bible Study. Peggy and girls here in evening for cookies. Marie and Lorraine picked for Montreal trip.

Rebekah’s. We went to city. Merrill ordered vacuum line for barn at Bisnetts. They put it in Monday, $295. Got letter from June. Will be here the 17th.

Made crabapple conserve, 8 cans. Merrill cut wood and put some down cellar. Bank robbery, National Bank at City. Jim on TV news tonight on American Corner. Lorraine here for 4-H cookies.

4-H Achievement Night, General Brown. All went but Judy and Nora. Laura won 2nd place at talent show. Lynn’s and Judy drove also. Merrill and Boots went to Ennis’s for manure spreader apron, $125.57. Had winter tires put on at Agway. One tire was worn.

Gillette here to treat 12 cows in morning, $67. Merrill put new apron in spreader. Rainy, thunder storm in PM. I feel horrid all day. Quit taking iron capsules, diarrhea bad, 4th day of it.

Rainy and cold all day and evening. Very foggy in morning. We went to church. Bob and Joyce Griffin in charge. Very good. Roger and Joanne Rappole and children here for weekend at Lila’s and Alice’s. Came to church. The Cameron’s not at church. Laity Sunday.

No school or mail. Bisnetts put in vacuum line, $295. Bill came over and helped in PM. Brenda and boys came also. Thunder storms in evening. Merrill went to Lodge.

Jim’s here for lunch and supper. Kenny, Brenda, Kim and Jeffrey here in evening. Jim, Pat, Brenda and Kenny went over to Martin’s awhile. Patty made navy slacks. I went to Bible Study with Ruth. Men dug beets.

Brenda’s dentist appointment. We went to Mills in morning to get Mark and Billy. Bill and Brenda came after them in evening. Merrill put wood down cellar.

Merrill cut and drawed wood. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Cleaned house. Washed and cooked beets to can. We went to city in evening for iron pills. I got black print jersey at Westons, $5.99. Vern’s called. Mary H here.

Vern’s eye appointment, Dr. Scanlon. Everything OK. His eyes haven’t changed in 10 years. They got here about 5:45. Left at 8:30. June has teachers conference in Syracuse in morning. Merrill drawed wood. Got bill from Kingston hospital, $28.80. Made cheese cake.

Canned 7 quarts carrots. Merrill dug rest of garden stuff. Carrots, glads. Payne’s had house raising today. Put up frame and roof. Cold and windy all day. Washed clothes. Got David Hanson and Linda Hough wedding invitation.

Rained all day. We went to church. Joyce got sign for CEC for us. cost $8 to paint and letter. Mr. LaSalle. We went to Mrs. Beardsley in PM. She gave her smoking stand that was her husband’s to Mrs. Little. They bought it years ago.

Wrote Uncle Berl. Raining about all day. I got rest of carrots ready to freeze. Got clock from Amway for Mom but it doesn’t strike only once on the hour.

Charge Conference, Evans Mills, 7 PM. covered dish. We just went for meeting. Not many there. Rev. Wood in charge. Mr. Ball led devotions. We went to city and to Jim’s. Took Jolie Halloween costume and Jill dog. We put up UM Christian Ed Center sign on CEC. Name picked Nov. 27, ‘72, Rev. Blankenship.

Rebekah’s Installation. 72 there. Vi, Esther, and I on committee. Bay staff installed. I went up to help in AM. Merrill went to Lafargeville for points for tractor and put them on in PM. Merrill went to Antwerp.

Went up to hall and helped Vi and Esther clean up kitchen. Got groceries. Sure tired today. Didn’t sleep because of leg cramps all night. Merrill and Boots went to Mills. Merrill cemented cellar wall. Beautiful day, 70°. Sent Steve $5 check.

Vern’s go to Massachusetts this weekend. Jim goes hunting. Another beautiful day, 74°. Merrill cleaned cellar. Wrote Mrs. Beardsley. Sent UMW poem to Mrs. Bellinger at Theresa. We went to Islander’s Concert at Philadelphia High School. A great show. Tracy Robertson, leader.

Steve’s 11th birthday. Lorraine, Lisa, Nora, Marie and I met to plan 4-H projects. Met at Igloo in AM. I made cookies and donuts. Merrill finished cleaning cellar. Washed my hair in evening. Rained some. Very warm all day.

Show time again. We went to church. Ate at Igloo. We drove to Dexter but couldn’t find where Gladys and Ted lived. Keitha and Marion called. Gladys also.

No mail, no school. PNG’s at Margaret Waters. I didn’t go. Patty and girls here for supper. Jim is up in the woods hunting with Kenny. Merrill cut wood. I fell in kitchen with Jill. No one hurt. Elaine and Tammy went to Gouverneur to live.
