Diary Entry for 9/5/1998

A nice sunny day. Sunny about 72°. Vern, June, Jim, Steve, Kathy and girls Kristen and Sarah here about all day. They got so much work done for us. They painted the garage, front porch, flagpole etc. Boys took trash to dump. Vern’s brought cat bed to put in dining room. They took home Vern’s little wicker chair. Also quilt made by Grandma Carrie Tryon. June brought large dish of delicious chili and birthday cake for Jim. We gave him his birthday gift, a white robe and $100.00. I gave Steve a letter that his mother, June sent to us in 1964. A day after his birth. He was so pleased with it. I’m glad I saved it. Renee Lucida stopped by to see Jim. Jim is thinking of retiring from police department.
