Diary Entry for 6/2/1990

Another great day. Merrill went to Horton’s to work ground. Pulverizer broke after couple hours. Saw Chomsun and Sammy a minute picking ferns. Washed clothes. Froze asparagus and rhubarb.

Going away church dinner and program at Evans Mills for all 5 churches, for Kerr-Carpenter’s. We went with Bill and Vi. All very nice. Sina sang for Philadelphia’s part of program.

We had cleaning bee at parsonage, 13 of us. Got a lot done. Helen and Charlie Covell helped. i washed clothes when I got home. Tired tonight. Party for Jim and Gloria Collin’s 25th anniversary.

Still hot and humid. Thunder storm. Merrill worked at Horton’s for 2 hours until the storm hit. Violent rain, wind, and hail. Lots of damage. Wrote Vern’s. City and Brownsville hit hard with storm.

Colder, cloudy. Merrill worked at Horton’s until 4 PM. Lyla called. Scott Thayer and girl friend have baby girl, Randi Lynn, 8 pounds, 8 ounces. We worked at parsonage in evening. June R called. Storm blew down trees at the farm. Tina and Lorraine Brancatella called in evening.

Sunny and warm. Vern called in AM. Dan has chicken pox. FHA won’t take less money on farm. Vern and June leave for Jan and Jim’s today. Merrill went to parsonage to let copier repair man in. We worked at parsonage in PM. Finished papering almost.

Rev. Carolyn Berry moves into Philadelphia parsonage. She and her father Charles, got to Philadelphia about 4 PM. Had lot of help to unload. Collin here to drop off parsonage key. He, Kathy, and Emma stopped at parsonage.

Rebekah’s out to eat at Fargo’s. 17 went. Delicious supper. Family style. I went with Ginny. Merrill mowed lawns. Carol called. Refrigerator isn’t working. Bill Matteson will repair it tomorrow.

Merrill worked at Horton’s. I baked rhubarb and strawberry pie. Also apricot pie, and chocolate chip cookies. Sunny day. Elaine and 4 kids here on bikes. We went to parsonage in evening to help Wayne install new washer and dryer.

Carpenter and Emma, 15 months, move to Oswego. Merrill took car to George’s to be inspected, $10.00. He went to city for hose for parsonage. We went for groceries in AM. Merrill put hose on parsonage. The District Superintendent and wife there. Rained all day.
