Diary Entry for 9/2/1987

Jim’s 44th birthday. Jim and Walt here for lunch. They brought out new furnace. Clinic: Merrill 138/78, blood count 14. Mine was 172/90, blood count 11. We went to city. Bought furnace at Garn’s, $897.73. Called Vern. They are coming this weekend.

Diary Entry for 9/4/1987

Nice day. Cold over night. Merrill went to Antwerp for pipes etc. We went for groceries. Vern called in morning. Are coming Sunday. Washed clothes. Bob Griffin died today of heart attack, 60 years old.

Another beautiful day. We didn’t go to church. Frieda and Harry here in morning. Came for 9:00 church but it is now at 11:15. Vern, June and Dan came in AM. They got furnace down cellar. Terry McKeever helped. Jim, Joel, and Jill here for supper.

Administrative Council, 8 there. Minister had meeting at Shari’s. Didn’t come. Rained off and on all day. Gary Belile had accident with new truck. Bob Griffin’s funeral at church 10:00. Merrill was a bearer. Church was full.

Washed clothes. Cloudy day. Sent Vern card, letter, and check. Didn’t get it sent Saturday. I went over to Linda’s for drive. She has had shots for Carausca (?) in November for 17 days. Last day of summer. A beautiful summer.

Nice day. Sunny. Sent taxes, $347.34. Sent stuff to EPIC. Sent bankruptcy claim. Paid AARP insurance for 4 months. Merrill went over town twice. He mowed lawns. They painted water tank light green. Carpenter Meadows project moved in trailer headquarters.

Olive Bowman’s 90th birthday. We went for groceries in AM. Sent dated proof claim to bankruptcy court. I didn’t date the one I sent yesterday. Merrill mowed weeds and cleaned garage. Merrill helped Carl on wagon in PM.

Trustees meeting at Marg’s. They got bank account figures out. They gave Merrill key to bank vault. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. I called telephone company about Lifeline. They didn’t receive it in April. Wrote Ken’s. Randy brought us corn to freeze.
