Diary Entry for 3/5/1980

We went to city for Imferon, eye drops, and needles. Merrill got his chain saw from Bob’s. $4.50. Merrill renewed his driver license, $4. Rainy. Got prescriptions from Dr. Roberts. Glenda came in early evening to give me 5 cc iron shot. We went to IRS office. We don’t have to file returns.

Card party at Edna’s. Nice time. Neville’s, Mowers, Simonds, Lowry’s, Schell’s, Chamberlains,Tryon’s. Glenda gave me 3rd iron shot. Merrill cleaned church. He took up torn carpet by door. Esther has asked him to build steps to pulpit.

Cheryl Ashley got deed to Aunt Maude’s house. Glenda gave me iron shot. Evelyn talked with Ralph’s. He is still in the hospital. Rebekah’s. I didn’t go. I haven’t felt good this PM. Merrill run cleaner. Lyla said, Marg, Roy and Beulah to hospital to see Clara.

Carol Matteson surprise shower. Good turn out and nice time. Merrill helped Terry get a load of wood shavings at Carthage. Evelyn gave him $10. Washed clothes and bedding. Snowing in evening. I feel better than yesterday.

Card party at Neville’s. 4 tables. Nice time. Mower’s and Simonds went with us. Snowing about all day. Merrill went for groceries. Mailman got stuck out front. I called Chamberlains in evening. Glenda gave me shot #6. Paid her $5.

St. Patrick’s Day. I had lab tests at hospital, $24.03. Got Imferon and needles at Fays, $49.50. A beautiful warm day, 55-60°. We stopped to see Rose Petrie on way to city. We went to Theresa Bank.

Thunder and lightening at 4 AM. Dr. Roberts called. My blood count is 10.9. I’m to take B-12 once a week. Imferon 3 times a week. Have to go to Upstate, Syracuse for tests next month. Boots caught a mouse. Washed clothes. Glenda here to give me shot. Jim called.

First day of spring. Warm. Merrill saw 2 robins for first on back lawn. We went for groceries. Water in parsonage basement. Got letter from Leslie. Mother is at Elmer’s now. Glenda gave me shot. Matzell’s moved more furniture today.

Cloudy, and rainy. Very warm. Lots of water in parsonage again. Fireman pumped it out. I’ve felt horrid all day. Sore and lame. Merrill got card and note from Don’s. New pastor and wife coming March 31st for interview.

Merrill’s 71st birthday. Chuck Hotaling, 51, funeral. Merrill called Pearl. She is 82. Lives at Hilltop Towers. Merrill went to dump. New neighbors moved in at Matzell’s house. Glenda here to give me shots. Vern called in evening. Also Marg. All well. June R and girls brought Merrill box of candy.

I ordered plastic glasses from John. Merrill got card and note from Gehm’s. Administrative Board at CEC, 16 there. Merrill, Esther and Leah worked at taking up carpet. Merrill fixed lights in CEC. I washed clothes. I’ve felt horrid all day. Glenda gave me shots.

Bill Mower’s 64th birthday. Juanita and Donnie’s birthdays. P&M Furniture, Evans Mills to start laying church carpet, $1800. Merrill helped. Janet, Dr. Roberts nurse called. My iron count is real high so I’m not to have iron shots anymore.

Got census blanks to return. Carl Scee’s birthday, 75. I had lab tests at hospital, $24.03. Saw Buster and Marie at hospital. Buster had blood test. He had light stroke. Beautiful spring day, 60°, They finished church carpet. Looks great.

We went to church, Palm Sunday. 133 out. New carpet is beautiful. Vern called in morning inviting us down for Easter. Patty called in PM also inviting us for Easter. Kenny and Jim found Joe Svagusa [?] took his life today. Frogs are hollering.

Pastor Parish meeting with Rev. and Mrs. David Quick, the children, David and Karen, and District Superintendent Len Owen at CEC for first time. They drove up from NJ and went back after meeting. My hand so lame I can hardly use it.
