Merrill got letter about Fort Drum job class. 28°. Wrote Vern’s. Got letter from Angie. Merrill built fence all day. I went to UMW at Center in evening. 14 there. Betty Haggerty went home from hospital.

Sunday School paper drive. Merrill took papers up and cleaned church. I made meat balls and 3 kinds of cookies. Cloudy. A little rain early in morning. Has rained off and on. Washed clothes. 4-H Dress Review at Carriage House.

71° A beautiful day. Merrill built fence all day for us and also Howard. He helped fix Hall’s manure spreader. I cleaned porch and put plants out. Didn’t wash windows. Rained in evening.

Mother and Daughter Banquet, 6:30. About 80 plus help. I helped set tables in PM. Got groceries. Merrill helped Howard with spreader. Got Mother’s Day card and note from Vern’s. Rev Janet Morris from Mills showed film.

Dr. Scanlon, 1:30, $17. Go back in 4 months. He said I don’t have much of the optic nerves left. Went to Jim’s for supper. We to Merrill Wamack concert at IRHC in evening. Wrote Angie. Merrill got hair cut.

Kids gave me a beautiful mum plant. Mother’s Day. We went to Sunday School and church, 83 out. Nice sermon. Had late dinner at Jim and Pat’s. I stayed all night. Merrill went home for tonight. Helped Patty shorten 4 pairs of slacks in evening. Marilyn Payne’s 30th birthday.

Merrill mowed lawns for first this year. Merrill brought letter and picture from Uncle Berl. Patty’s 31st birthday. Jim and Pat go off for Police Convention about 8 AM. They called in evening. Merrill came to spend night. He worked at Ponzi’s. Rained about all day. I’m tired today.

Merrill worked at Halls. Nice in morning but turned cloudy. I washed 2 batches of clothes. Run cleaner and baked a cake. Jean was over in PM. Jolie didn’t come home for supper. Jim called twice. Merrill here in evening. Got letter for Civil Service test, May 31.

Aunt Maude had heart spell and went to hospital, didn’t stay. Patty’s father in Mercy hospital. Jim and Patty got home at 6:30 PM. Merrill came for supper. We came home tonight. Kids gave me dried flowers in watering pitcher and pecan roll. Dad a cereal bowl and mints. Kids glad to see their folks.

FFA. Merrill and I helped. Less than 80 this year. I made pumpkin pies and washed dishes. A beautiful day. Merrill helped Howard build fence. Hank Fikes, 72, shot himself. 4th one in the family to do it.

75°-80°. Kathy, Clay and Aunt Maude brought Stanley stuff. I am very lame today. Sent Don Gehm birthday card and letter. Boots and I went for groceries. Merrill helped Howard built fence all day.

We went to see David and Mary Dimon in evening. Rained during night. We went to Sunday School and church, 71 out. Aunt Maude went to Syracuse to see her sister. I’m very lame again today. Merrill mowed lawns. Horton’s here for hay. Jim, Pat, and kids here for supper, Also Carol Ponzi.

Don Gehm’s 67th birthday. Rev Cameron’s 65th birthday. Administrative Board meeting, 18 out. We had surprise birthday for Rev. Cameron after meeting. Gloria Collins called about houses. June Risdale here about farm. Called Dr. Roberts for an appointment.

Boots and I went for groceries. Got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s. Merrill painted trim in AM. He worked at Eberly’s in PM, 2 Garage doors. Glenn, June and girls here in evening. They can get the money for our farm. I washed dining room curtains and woodwork. Jack Tousley, 56, died.

Wrote Don’s. Merrill worked at Eberly’s all day. June Risdale and Red Aiken here to check out things. Gloria Collins showed us Scrimmagar house. (Shorty Hills). Signed purchase agreement. We both felt at home there. Beautiful trees and lawns.

Merrill worked at Eberly’s in AM. Merrill mowed lawns. I sorted Jim’s stuff in closet. We took plants and lilacs to cemetery. Gloria called to say Mrs. Scrimmagar has signed purchase offer. June R and girls here in evening.

Turned water on at barn but no water. There is a leak somewhere. We went to church. Didn’t go to Sunday School. Rev. Pilbeam in church. Risdale’s here to plant their garden. Jim, Pat and kids here. We went to see our new house. Called Vern’s. Jack Tousley’s funeral at church. We didn’t go.

Hot. Very dry. We went to city and bought mower, rototiller, and 2 tires at K-Mart. They wouldn’t start. Risdale’s here in evening. June R’s 27th and Laura’s 8th birthday. We had cup cakes and ice cream. Vern called in morning to see if we need help with water.

Howard and Evelyn’s 26th anniversary. Still very hot. Took mower to get stated. Returned tiller. Got 8 water buckets and tractor battery at Agway. Ordered rototiller. Stopped at Bennett’s. Cindy and Ethan have 8 lb1 oz, baby boy, Tristan Everett Stewart.

Merrill’s Civil Service test, 8:30 AM. He bought rototiller at Nicholas, $269. Brought home lawn mower. He worked garden. I measured rooms at new house. Risdale’s here in evening. Got groceries and boxes at Big M.
