Diary Entry for 2/2/1950

Merrill & I went to Adams & moved Uncle Berle to his new apartment. Dad, Mom & Uncle Lloyd helped also. Mom called & said Basil had 2 pork for us. Gerald Murray, age 7, drowned in Indian River tonight.

Clifford Carr’s cattle auction. Merrill went to it. Special Grange meeting get together. 3 Granges’ visited Philadelphia. Vernon had part in program. Just Vernon went to it. Baked bread, doughnuts, & pies. Had terrible back ache in evening.

Not feeling too peppy but washed clothes & did ironing. Went over to Marsha LaPine’s in PM & fitted pattern. Little Murray boy’s funeral who drowned Thursday evening. Painted fire place second coat of white.

Very spring like day. Another white frost last night for third night in row. Aunt Cora, Aunt Edna, & Uncle Ed were here for supper. Aunt Cora gave me beautiful handkerchief. Boys & I went to Sunday School.

Saw television for first time at Dickson’s store. We all went to city. Got 3 pair plastic drapes @$1.00. Got white window shades. Got wall paper for boy’s room. Helped with Grange cafeteria supper. Merrill & boys went to show.

Quarterly church conference. 2nd plastic bag lesson at Marguerite Beach’s. I didn’t go because it was so stormy. Some of us to get it later. Boy’s didn’t go to school because it is so stormy. Most schools closed but didn’t close Philly.
