Diary Entry for 2/20/1975

4-H Dress Evaluation at Fire Hall. I took Laura, Marie, Lorraine and Vicky. Jolie, Alison, Nora and Linda went also. We went out to hospital to see Jill for first. She is so sweet. Looks like Jolie did only has dark hair. Saw Art and Doris and baby. Took Patty sweater from Sears.

A beautiful day. Sent Dan card. I have intestinal runs. Woke up at 4 AM with it. Dawn was over and spent day with Jolie. Says they have sold their farm. Merrill worked at helping Bob put on window at parsonage. MYF Pizza sale. I got one, $2.

Another grand day. I feel better today. Cleaned house. Washed Jolie’s clothes. Jim and Pat called. Patty and Jill went home today. Myrtle Schell died suddenly yesterday morning, 58 years. Mary collected for flowers.

UMW at CEC, 7:30. Exchange student Mike Kenny, Australia spoke. Very nice, 20 there. Matt, Merrill, Floyd also. I went to Bible Study. A good turnout. Got B-12 shot from Marilyn. A nice day.

Beautiful day but cold. Went to church. Carrie T. rode. Went to Aunt Maude’s for doily for June. Went to Sackets in PM. Jim was working. Vern, June and boys there to see baby. Jolie came home with us. Jim’s have new car. Got it Tuesday. A Pacer.

4-H Dress Rehearsal, 7:30. I didn’t go. Jim, Pat and Jill came out. Jolie went home. Jill’s first time here. She is 19 days old. Merrill went to IOOF in evening. Uncle Berl’s 82nd birthday.

Michael Payne went to hospital. A beautiful day. I went to Bible Study with Ruth. In hospital, Lois, gall bladder and Esther T. Kidney’s. Elsie B can come home as they have found someone to stay with her. Merrill paid $20 to join National Federation of Independent Businesses.

I didn’t go to Rebekah’s. Cloudy, windy day. Some rain. Merrill got a load of wood. Got letter from Aunt Keitha, in Washington. June and Vern called in evening. Are coming April 18th instead of the 4th.

Boots and I wore green today. Merrill cut wood. I washed clothes. Washed windows. A real nice day. Mike Payne came home from Syracuse hospital. Merrill went to IOOF installation at Theresa. 35 there. Merrill’s chaplain again.

Alison’s 9th birthday. Jim, Pat, Jolie and Jill here for supper. Merrill and Jim cut wood. Jim paid for beef, $100. I went to Bible Study with Pearl. Had call asking me to take charge of cancer drive. Audrey Puffer called.

Dr. Scanlon 2 PM. Cost $21. I’ve lost some sight. He changed drops to 1 1/2%. Got them at fays, $4.10. Got to go to Kingston hospital in May or June. Saw Jim. Got fruit at Johnnies. Merrill got cards and letters from Vern’s, Marg’s and Gladys.

4-H Garden seed order in. Sent $11.40 order. Aunt Maude called in AM. Cheryl and 3 other women left for West Virginia to Jamboree. We went to Good Friday service at Evans Mils in evening.

Easter Sunday. I went to sunrise service. Just great, church full. They had 150 at breakfast. I didn’t stay for it. 175 at 11 AM service. Also great. We went for ride in PM after roast chicken dinner. Cool with a few snow flurries.

UMW, 8 PM at CEC. 12 out. Vi and Marilyn on committee. Vern, June and Dan called. Gehm’s move into new mobile home tomorrow. Bible Study, 11 out, 2 kids. Gave out first Cancer envelopes. John Rose, 37 died.

Adult Clinic. 10:15 AM. SMA blood tests. Dr. Roberts 3 PM. He changed my shots to every three weeks. Got fruit at Johnnies. Called Jim’s. Jolie wanted us to come down. Saw Ethel at Co-op store.

No school. First time this winter because of storm. 4-H Food lesson, 7 PM canceled because it was too stormy. Got note from Vern’s. Sent brochure on Modular Exploration of Technology Series. Vern is one of the authors of these books.

Aunt Keitha get home from Washington. Still stormy. Gave Boots bath. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Lots of snow in places. Slippery. Heard on late news someone tried to run Jim down on Arcade Street tonight. Washed my hair.

Beginning of Cancer Crusade. We went to church. Furnace off. Church cold. 120 out. Was supposed to be communion but no one told Leah too prepare it. I baked apple pie and chocolate chip cookies in evening.

Wrote Vern’s. Beulah and Nancy Rose. Sent income tax forms, Social Security and gas tax refund, $134.03 and $22.70. I went to Philadelphia in evening to give out Cancer envelopes.

Ecumenical covered dish supper at CEC. Catholics hosted it. Nice time. Rev. Cameron and Father Vitraw there. I went to Bible Study. Delivered Cancer envelopes. Jim, Pat and girls here for supper. They brought Dad fireplace tongs and dress shirt.

Got $45 for two calves, 2 weeks old. Went to Philadelphia for groceries. Heard at store that Jump Lawton was found dead in the field. Stopped at church. Bob F and Mr. Heath have robe closet all made. Got letter from June.
