Diary Entry for 7/2/2003

84° and 54°. Sunny, warm day. Our power off in early morning. Some alarms wouldn’t shut off. Syracuse Symphony at Part with fire works today. Vi and I watched the fire works at the park out the hall window on Vi’s floor with our heads under the window shade. They were beautiful.

84° and 66°. Hot and humid. Nice breeze. Vi here. She called to say Esther called and said she couldn’t go to Calcium tomorrow. June and Vern got here about 10 AM. They brought me a microwave exactly like the one I just got. They also brought me a cake tin and Vern got me four pens like I like at Kinney’s. We ate lunch at Club House. Also stopped at store. They left about 3 PM.

80° and 69°. A nice day. No rain. Dr. Schipic 1:15 PM. I had my teeth cleaned and treated with fluoride. $32. Vi walked over to dentist with me. We sat outside for a while when we came back. Jim called in evening. Eleanor H called on prayer chain. I called Vivian M also Vi.

79° and 60°. A nice day. Juanita and Donnie here in PM. We went to Wendy’s for salad supper. Donnie goes home Friday. I cancelled having Vi come for liver and onions. We’ll do it later. I got a letter from Stephanie Cha. She just got married in LasVegas. A soldier. They are leaving for Germany for three years this month. Coby Slate here with tapes for Vi and I.

79° and 48°. Partly cloudy. Rain in evening. I did laundry. Vi here. She gave me a tall vase. I told Hope about short in flood light outside my bedroom window. It kept me awake last night. Jolie called in evening with her phone number.

74° and 64°. Raining in morning. Rained all night. Jessie here. We went to store. Jim, Joanne, and Lauren here in PM. Jim brought me his large kitchen TV. I can see it better than mine. Mine was wearing out.

80° and 58°. A just beautiful sunny day. Hot outside but very comfortable in my apartment all day. Vi went out to lunch with Genevieve Kavanaugh. She stopped by when she got home. She took two of my diaries to read. ’44 and ’45.

84° and 54°. Nice breeze. I got my Niagara Mohawk bill, $25. The farmer’s market brought vegetable to give away for a donation. Will come on Tuesday. I sent check to Philadelphia church to Sue B. first hurricane of the season in Texas. Damage in the millions of dollars. Terrible rains. Vi brought back 2 diaries and took ‘46 and ‘47.

72° and 68°. Rained during the night. Cooler. I took Vi the Times. Sue called for prayer chain for Dean and Renee’s grandmother’s death. Pray for son David who cared for her. Lyla called. Rick and Debbie Carpenter leave Centennial today.

71° and 53°. A sunny fresh day. I got bill of $20 for eye exam for new glasses. Medicare doesn’t pay but AARP insurance does not pay if Medicare doesn’t pay. Vi came after Times. A couple claps of thunder and lightning in evening had power off but came back on soon.

78° and 57°. We went to church. Sherri went today. First in a long time. I went to church here in PM. No music. Susan came after paper. Jim and Jolie called on three-way hook up. Also talked with Shawn Michael. He sounds happy.

75 and 64. Rained during night and off and on all day. Kinney’s brought my drugs but forgot my milk. Vi here twice. I took trash downstairs to compact room in evening. Garbage truck comes in morning. I got family information on Liberty Strader fro Debby. Larry B said there are three baby rabbits born in boxed flower garden under my window. The flowers are very pretty in it.

79° and 65°. No rain today but rained hard during the night. I washed clothes in PM. Saddam Hussein’s two sons and grandson killed today in an attack by USA marines. A walk-in informant told where they could be found. If only their father could be found, maybe this terrible fighting would end. I got 3 blouses at Granny’s Attic. Eleanor H called for prayer chain for House family. I called Vivian.

79° and 62°. Not a bad day. Partly cloudy. Water off all forenoon for repairs. Vi and girls stopped in a few minutes. I washed clothes in PM. We have a third new washing machine. I called Jim. He’s coming by tomorrow.

80° and 63°. Great day. Sunny. Nice breeze. Jessie here. We went to store. Coby Slate here. Vi came down to see him. Jim leaves on bike to Pennsylvania. Will be home Sunday. I think I have a few shingles on my back shoulder. I soaked it with Epsom salts.

80° and 67°. Quite windy. No rain but partly cloudy at times. Vi was here. Sherri Nash called. Jim preaches at Stone Mills tomorrow. He brought me church bulletin from First Church.

73° and 49°. A sunny nice day. Vi and Andrea stopped in. Lidia got back from NY City. I wrote Cha family. Bob Hope age 100 years, a great entertainer, died last night. Kinney’s brought part of my order. Forgot vitamins and milk. Jolie called. I also talked with Shawn Michael, and Madison. Shawn is looking forward to school starting there next month. He sounds happy.

76° and 58°. Partly cloudy. I did big hand laundry. Kinney’s man was here. Still didn’t bring all my stuff. Got a cute note and card from Dawn. A laced up shoe. Had to unlace it to read it.

82° and 54°. Sunny fresh day. We met Dawn here at 11 AM. She has a job at school so will change time of our class to Monday and Wednesday at 2:30. She gave us picture and fudge. Vern called. They were on Route 81 on way to Vermont. I took time up to Vi. Kinney’s finally brought the rest of my order.

84° and 61°. A nice day. Nice breeze. Vi here for Times. My shingles not as uncomfortable today. Retired sheriff Don Newberry of Antwerp 66 died today. His sister Mary used to ride into work with me years ago.
