UMW Christmas meeting at Margaret K. 18 present. Collected over $30 for missionaries. Double over $60. Merrill cleaned bathroom. Washed clothes. My cold better but still coughing a lot. Got first Christmas card from Ponzi’s.

Merrill washed dining room and kitchen ceilings. Put up Christmas decorations. We went for groceries. Got box of chocolates for Genny and Nancy. Merrill has cold. Pearl Harbor Day, 44 years ago.

Charge Conference, Evans Mills. About 20 there. Margaret and Marilyn went with us. Ray M and Horton’s there for meeting. Roy’s 78th birthday. Washed. Snowy. Merrill helped Carl get Manger lights working.

Diary Entry for 12/11/1981

Our 46th anniversary. We met Vern’s at city. Had delicious dinner at Sam’s Restaurant. Went to Islanders Christmas concert at State Office Building. They sang Happy Anniversary to us. Had anniversary cake when we got back home. A very nice celebration.

Vern’s left about 9:30 AM to shop at city. Jim’s here for supper. Jim went to Rudes. June R called. Mrs. Hale had operation at Crouse Irving, Syracuse yesterday. Jim and Pat gave us new kitchen curtains.

Packed shut-in boxes. I didn’t help. Merrill visited Hartford [?] Kavanaugh. Aunt Maude and Cheryl here in evening. Brought us gift and candy. Got nice card and note from Beulah. Ed Fagan returned from Johnson Island on sick leave.

Candlelight service at Mills. We went. 30 from Philadelphia there. Good crowd. Very nice. Had our gifts in evening. I got watch, Merrill shoes, belt and ties. Grace Tryon called. Carl has leukemia. Has to go into hospital for treatments after Christmas. Cleaned coffee pot with vinegar.

Sent card and note to Millicent Hale in Crouse Irving Memorial. Agway takes over Murphy Coal and Oil today. Ken Brown called. Got letter from Murphy. We took down Christmas decorations. Frank Robbins cleaned furnace chimney. It was almost plugged.
