Diary Entry for 9/1/1981

Dr. Roberts. All fine. Blood count 11.5, and blood pressure 120/82. Stopped to see Earl and Florence. Saw Marg. She didn’t respond to us. Went to Sackets for girls. Jim has got a lot done on house. I owe Dr. Ikin $640.

MDA Telethon starts. Jim and Explorers work at it. We went to church, 35 there. Patty, Audrey, and Joel came after girls. Kenny, Brenda, Kim, and Jeff here in PM. Lou Rudes got home yesterday. We went over to Lyla and Jim’s new home in evening.

Sent checks to Dr. Runge, Dr. Ikin, Blue Cross and Readers Digest. Called Dr. Roberts but he didn’t come to phone. Wrote Vern’s. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Got letters from Uncle Berl, and Melba. Cactus plant has 2 blossoms.

Diary Entry for 9/13/1981

Church 11:15 again. Sunday School starts. Also Senior choir. 53 out to church. Merrill left hospital at 3 AM. Roy and I stayed all night. Merrill and I went to Sackets for supper. Didn’t stay at hospital for night. Roy and Arlene went home also.

Marg died at 5:30 this morning. Arlene called. I called Doris, Marion, and Aunt Maude. We went to Don’s and Beulah’s. Roy, Arlene, Pauline and Garmon ordered flowers. They got everything done. I called Vern in evening.

Frank brought first fuel oil @ $1.21. Marg’s funeral 1 PM. Piddocks. Lots of flowers and people. Rev. Carlson gave a nice service. Loren and Vera Strader only ones from Canada. We got home about 9 PM. We went to H&R Block on way about state tax.

Diary Entry for 9/23/1981

Furnace blower isn’t working at parsonage. Raining hard all day. I went to nutrition dinner. Joyce Wood took my blood pressure, 148/98. I started back on blood pressure pills. Merrill fixed toilet at Horton’s. Pastor Parish meeting at Mills. Alan and Gl [?] Barnes to fill in preaching. Nice meeting.

Sent school tax $201.86. Nice day for a change. Merrill worked at Horton’s. We went for groceries at noon. Joyce Percell here selling calendars. Carl Scee called. He didn’t go to Florida as he had slight stroke the night before he was to leave.

Leah and Claude’s 45th anniversary open house. We went over late in day. Gave them key wall plaque. Rained hard. The Quick’s last Sunday here. We went to church. Only 65 out. Dingman’s baby girl baptized. I didn’t feel good in evening.
